Talk About Buying Your Vote (political)

It was just announced on a local radio show that Obama has purchased 1000 tickets to the Dave Mathews concert being held at IU on Sat April 5th. They will be given to "young voters". Well what about this old fart here. I mean I would love to see Mathews free too. Seems Obama might be getting desperate.

I remember the days whens 1/2 pint of whiskey or a pint of cheap sherry on election day was good for a vote.

How'd you find out about that? I held out for a pack of smokes too.

I have to laugh because the Dave Matthews shows here in CT involve drunken, obnoxious teens & college kids who throw up all over the place, cry because they've had too much to drink and pee wherever they are standing. I stopped going to DMB because of this. I wonder if the Obama rally will be similar?!

(for the record, I am an Obama supporter)

All politicians buy votes. I'll give you free health care. I'll get you more welfare, corperate or otherwise. I'll give you a tax cut...I'll build you better roads...I'll give you a museum...

It's the one who offers you what you want that you vote for.

Is that what happens at all the Dave Matthews Band concerts? Or just the ones in CT? I so wanted to go see them in Charlotte in July1

I can only speak for CT as that's the only place I've seen them. Although a friend said the VA shows were nothing like the CT shows. The outdoor stadium in Hartford has a pavilion section with seats and the infamous lawn. The lawn is where 99% of the debauchery occurs. They typically oversell the DMB shows...completely illegal but somehow they do it. The lawn is so overwhelmed with people that you can't enjoy it at all. Seats are generally good...people having a good time but I haven't had any bad experiences in the seat section. It's just very difficult to get seats b/c of the demand.

One year, they even called in the riot police...not because there was a riot but because they thought they were going to start one when the cops went through the parking lots to clear out the underage drinking. It's just ugly. I can't stand the scene anymore. The band is soooo good live and the "fans" ruin it for me.

The crowd wasn't like that when he used to open for the Dead. Hard to say what the difference is, the maturity of the crowd or the substances consumed.

If he puts a contract on Celine Dion or/and Robbie Williams, I'll vote for him.

LOL! I'm with you on Celine Dion..but Robbie Williams is super hot so I'd have to exchange Robbie for Puffy Daddy or P-Diddy or whatever that idiot goes by.
