Yep, you had the older style rooms then. I myself really liked the rooms, they were spacious, had a Jacuzzi and they were clean. The style was a bit of an acquired taste, but really, who is in the room anyway?? I mean how much time do you actually spend in the room in Mexico? When I want to stay in the room, I call the 4 seasons.
But to update anyone, from the info and the tour I did last Feb, they are upgrading rooms, I don't know if it is certain buildings or the whole place, but from what I saw, the new rooms are top of the line!! They are the same layout, just greatly improved with a modern touch. They nice thing is that newer rooms have a computer station and a full top shelf wet bar along with all the modern electronics. But again, I could really care less about the rooms, it is what the hotel has to offer that I loved. There is so much to do and so much I did not get to do. I am really looking forward to going back. We are talking about maybe leaving our hotel and going back for the last two days or our upcoming trip or maybe going to the Beach Palace or Sun Palace in Cancun, two of my other favs. If we should have any problems what so ever, we will be going back to the Sirenis for the whole week. |

how come there is no pics of these new rooms, i even looked at other sites and all the rooms are the same, like when i was there. They already had a computer station at the back of the room by the sliding patio door. ya a flat screen t.v would be nice but it wasn't that bad. The rooms i thought were very nice, beds were a bit hard but what bed isn't in mexico. i know building 18 and 19 were ocean view and had the suites in them which were super nice and more modern. I just thought they would be better to spend the money on something else since the resort is so new still... don't ya think?

updating?
If you look at the reviews the bad ones are from awhile back. At least they had the sense to address issues that guests had. When we stayed there we found the the resort fantastic, but the food and booze aweful, concerns we raised directly to them. I guess they listen, addressing the food, and now trying to update the decor.

with all the negative comments that seem to abound for the sirenis i am compelled to offer my observations. yes the smells of the mangrove are present, if you are in the rockies you can often smell pine trees too. the modernist design may not be for everyone, but is not offensive and seems to work for me . the food is palatable and of good quality, but seems to be a little lacking in spice[maybe so people don't complain] , the presentation is always nice, and variety and selection varied, the a la carte restaurants were all above average and gave you options. the beach is the beach and has its merits for snorkeling and decent protection from extreme wave action. the pools are the usual type you would expect and the variety of pools gave all types of options for activity to serenity. i personally spend most of my time south of the main bay and explored the yalku chico area almost daily and found all kinds of interesting scenery. the drinks were good and all you need do is ask for exactly what you want and it will be served as best as possible. the staff were accommodating and responded to all request in a timely manner with follow up from management to assure satisfaction. activities and entertainment were always available , some shows were better than others, and the level of effort was commendable even if the talent was not up to vegas standards. all in all would i return? heck yes. just don't send those whiny spoiled complainers when i go cuz i will make them miserable as i enjoy the hospitality and culture of an amazing area and people. we are returning to the mayan riviera for the 11th time this april with all of the family and would return to the gs but i got a smokin hot deal at two other resorts that have potential[ very mixed reviews at both the sandos carocol and the tres rios resorts] . i am sure there will be aspects of each resort that i will enjoy and some i will not, but a holiday is another adventure and i can adapt to whatever and try to make the best out of the situation. if you know how hard the people work at these resorts, and what compensation they get you begin to understand that if you are a guest at any resort your life is blessed beyond most of those employees can only dream of. quit your bitchin' and have a little compassion and appreciation i say. sirenis resort is allright in my book .

"One mans dump is another mans paradise." We all have different standards. Judging by Grand Sirenis's raring and reviews and Trip Advisor, Lolly's not the only one who has been dissappointed with it. |
