A few thoughts on these matters...

Don't bring expensive jewelry and watches. If it's not there, it can't be seen or stolen. Get a Timex for travel...

Even I, who has never stolen a thing in my life (OK, OK, there was that one 8-track tape) , could pop most sliding glass doors in a matter of seconds.

When I'm traveling, anything important or valuable is either in my pockets or locked up. Having said that, I'll probably get jacked up on my next visit.

Well what do you expect? Who wouldn't want to steal Sarah's grill!

I've lived here for four years and vacationed here for 3 years before that, and in that time, I have had one bicycle stolen, in broad daylight, outside the Playa.info office.

Don't fret, just be aware. And have fun, don't forget that.

Yes, that is why I am glad they weren't talking about a large Mexican wall the government is building to keep us Americans out.

ditto that!! LMAO Exactly what I've been wondering! How long until they're trying to keep US out!

I think sliding doors are easier to break into than people realize. However, after we put the hanging rod (wooden pole) out of the closet in the track, locked all the windows and posted Mamita Kickyoass at the door; I felt MUCH safer!

I happen to live in one of the highest crime areas per capita in the USA. As long as there is not a huge increase in violent crimes, I'm still safer there than at home. So, although I would prefer it not to be an issue while on vacation; it is! At least I don't have to be worried I'll be thrown overboard in Playa!

Actually the Mexican wall shown with broken bottles on top can be easily overcome..A thick horse blanket thrown over the bottles, and zap they are in....

A rug would work, too, Babs. Try that. It's a deterrent, but not impossible to overcome.

Try the Punta Venado Ranch. This might be a catch-22 though if it's surrounded by a Mexican Beer Bottled wall....

If you build a wall like that in the US is it still a Mexican wall? If you build it in the middle east can you use a camel blanket? Do they have camel blankets?
