Last time I went to a drive in I was 18 years old. I went with another couple and we had the windows up because it was chilly. Well, we fogged up the car so bad we couldn't see outside. So loser me turns on the front and rear defrosters ... with the engine turned off.
Of course at the end of the movie, the battery was dead. I can remember being there in the empty parking lot until 2 AM waiting for someone to come with jumper cables. Never went back after that. The only drive in for hundreds of miles was turned into a mall about 10 years ago. |

I can only imagine the impression you must have of me! ![]() But you can come to my house and get me drunk anytime. I prefer mimosas and piņa coladas, but a cheap, sweet white wine'll do it, too. (Last time I had a mojito I couldn't drink it, after I got sick on 'em on Halloween. |

Back in the 60's, a few drive-in's here in Minnesota stayed open year 'round. To keep warm in the car, they had a heater that looked just like the clip-on speaker.
Kept you sort of warm, 'course we were sitting pretty close so we survived. The Mann-France Avenue Drive-In was partially responsible for a wonderful little gift who just turned 40! ![]() I know, TMI! For trip down memory lane, check out the snack food films on Youtube. Here's one: YouTube - COCA-COLA SNACK BAR THEATER AD . |

The last drive-in I went to was XXX....surprise
I was 18 or 19 and went with my boyfriend, cousin and best friend. Susie...after two or three bottles of Tickle Pink and Country Quencher 'wine' those huge things get really funny and less scary!![]() There's a drive-in about 20 miles out of town...the Galaxy. They've apparently just given the place a face lift and added a putt putt golf course!! They have first fun double features and everything! You can still listen to the movie with the old metal boxes or through your car radio. That may be something I'll have to do this summer.

The last drive-in theatre in Vancouver closed a few years ago. It's a condo complex now. We used to put a couple of people in the trunk of the car and sneak them in. A lot of trouble to save a couple of bucks. Kids!!!

Great thread... there is still a drive in in Maine, now I am going to make a point to take the little one before it closes. They play first run movies beleive it or not.. and haven't gone the porn route. Most the drive-ins around here really couldn't do that as the screens were often visible from the roads...
One side note, when I was in high school, I actually worked at a drive-in, cleaning up the day after! Let me tell you.. I saw some very gross things.. probably would have made a great episode of "Dirty Jobs". ![]() ![]()
