That's great Mofi, Can you send some of that white powder this way?

Our mountains are lacking a lot of snow, they use to have "perpetual" snow all year round.

This picture was of January this year, some years ago almost on the same week, they looked like this:

But this is the way they should look:

Yup...we are supposed to be getting hit with a nasty snowstorm too this weekend....starting Saturday night....high winds and up to 50 cm of snow they are calling for. (That is a foot and a half.)

Hopefully the temps will be higher than they think and it will fall as rain instead.

It was almost 30 degrees a week ago and Don was golfing last Saturday....stupid weather.

Rissask I will call my daughter and granddaughter in S'Toon and tell them to stay close to home Sat...
50 cm is a lot of snow...

Calgary is not in the weather warning right now although where I live Airdrie is..
I really would love to complain about the snow but think I better not..we have been in a fire ban...The land is very dry ..If we are to have this last kick in the butt from Old man winter I then hope the moisture goes where it is needed...

I am like you jamesblonde I want warm..I am itching to get out in the yard and be Mary Mary and see flowers and plants grow...

warm...Hmmm ..a trip to Playa would help....

Sylvia - in the early '90's I lived in Towerlane Apartments... saved a little dog from drowning in the creek behind there too! I actually really liked living in Airdrie, and the proximity to Calgary.

playawannabe I know where you used to live...Nice to have saved a little dog..

We used to drive by Airdrie when traveling from Sask to visit in Calgary or on the way to Banff or BC......
Drove by Airdrie many times..Never in a thousand years would I have pictured us living in Airdire...

I really enjoy living here and agree the close proximity to Calgary is nice..
I love the small town friendliness ..I can be still be a city girl but get the benefits of being in Country..
Have you been back to Airdrie lately...
It has changed big time...
The little town is growing up...
I can only imagine what other changes will be when Balzac mega mall (larger than west Ed they say) and the race track Hotel Casino is completed...
I want to stay around to see what happens then plan to go back to Sask....

Good for you for rescuing the dog, Jan- how did that happen?

That is exactly why we love living where we do, in Martensville, Sylvia. It's jsut ten minutes north of Saskatoon. Easy to get to the amenities in the city without having the negatives of city living, like traffic and break-ins, etc.

Since I grew up in a small town I like the friendly, neighbourly atmosphere of a smaller town too. It's the fastest growing town in Sk though, so I hope it doesn't grow TOO quickly- it's about 6000 people now.

Rissask last Christmas Bill and I were in Martenville looking at lots and chatting with the folks at town hall and with a few builders..
If ..when we move back to Sask. we are are seriously considering Matensville .. We would build our own home so have talked to some of the builders that have propety for sale in Martenville...
We have also looked at Osler and Warman where we have family but have decided we would not want to live in those towns.....

I think it is wonderful that Sask. is booming...
A Beautiful Province that will always be home to me...

Cool!

Bad time though to be building here though...it is just nuts right now. Not only have the prices more than doubled since we bought our house 5 years ago (more like almost tripled! ) but it takes forever to get a house built, they are having such a boom and there are major labour shortages in the housing business, acutally every business around here are having staffing problems.

Friends of ours are building a house in the north end of town (near us) and it has been almost a year now since they dug the basement and they still are about 2 months away from finishing. We were actually thinking of buying a different house but there is nothing on the market and what does come up gets snatched up immediately...it's tough.

We had a condo on Main Street and we are kicking ourselves for not keeping it. Don had bought it 8 years ago for $42,000, sold it for $72,000 5 years ago- now one in the same building just sold last week for $180,000....crazy!

FWIW- I think Warman is a prettier town...they actually have a downtown area, it feels somehow more like a town? Whereas we have everything on the service road, I don't like that. Don's mom lives in Warman.

We are here for at least another year...
We flipped homes 3 times in the past 4 1/2yrs..
Need to stay put for a little while..

We are contractors..Bill has built a few homes before..We would do our own building from ground up...
Plan is to build a duplex (Saskatoon is not selling R2 lots for duplexes right now)rent out one side..live in the other while we build our home then rent out both sides ..
If meant to be I guess things will fall into place...If it does not work out I am happy here...
I would have loved to have bought a reno home in Saskatoon a year or so ago... missed the boat...

If you own it is wonderful be in the right place right time to make money on property..It is crazy how fast home costs have gone up in Alberta and Sask...I feel sorry for those trying to enter the market.....

A nephew and niece and their 2 little ones live in Warman..Sis and bro in law in Olser..
Most of our family lives in Saskatoon...

Nice chatting

stay warm and safe

Enjoy your weekend..
