For the past three years I have checked riu.com for off season rates and children 12 and under are always no charge when sharing a room with two full paying adults.
I am now checking some dates in 2009 and notice that children are now being charged $55/nt. each. YIKES!!! I really would like to book for 2009 but not if I have to pay $55 each for the children. Does anyone know of a promo code or any other way to book off season dates in 2009 without having to pay for the children?? I emailed the RIU Tequila and was told that most often children are charged about 50% of the adult rate which is contradictory to the info. I have found myself on the riu.com web site for the past three years. I am coming to the area in 2009 for 3 weeks out of BUF and not able to book a package since I am interested in staying in 4 different resorts/hotels in the Mayan Riv area. Any info. would be really appreciated since I really want to spend several nights at the RIU with my children. Thank you |

Guess it depends on where you book your trip. I have a supplier that is offering kid's free, but I see than not all the ones I use are:
Valid Booking Dates: May 27, 2005-Dec 23, 2009 Valid Travel Dates: May 27, 2005-Dec 23, 2009 Maximum of 2 children through the age of 12 stay free in existing bedding with at least 2 adults. |

Thanks for the info. Would you mind telling me how I would go ahead booking the kids free for Dec 2009?
I have only ever thought to book on the Riu Hotels & Resorts web site. Thank you ![]() |

Shammy, sorry I did not realize that you were a Travel Agent. Thanks for the info. regarding funjet. We are not going until Dec 2009 but I was able to check early 2009 on funjet and noticed that the Tequila was charging for kids for early 2009. I know that in early 2008 they were not. I hope that this does not mean that they will not be charging for Dec 2009 as well.
I will be in touch when we are ready to book for 2009. Or if you think of it, perhaps you can contact me once you see pricing for 12/09. Thanks again for all the info. ![]() |

I also checked random dates in 2009 (as far as I could go) and do not see Funjet charging for kids.
How old is the kid(s) anyway? And prices are only out through early April 2009. As I said, it's going to be quite some time before you see Dec. 2009. |
