We'll be on the Riviera side in July, as well. I am REALLY looking forward to it. I have never been to a "perfect" resort or hotel - I don't think there's any such thing, at least for us average joes! Maybe the Ritz-Carlton in Vegas was close to perfect, but we were barely in the room for us to notice if anything was wrong!
Perfect, to me, is just getting away from my job, spending time with hubby and kids, and soakin' up the sun! Oh, and having some yummy cocktails, meeting new people, taking in new sites, more cocktails... sun, sand... you get the picture! |

We stayed in a junior deluxe suite and with our package we had 5 ala carte restaurants and could choose from any of them. Also included was room service which we used several times, the longest we waited was 30 minutes to receive our food and when it arrived it was good and hot. RIXX the resort next to the princess resort to the north was the Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda. They are also building a new resort inbetween these two resorts. |

Need help with room selection.
There is a good deal for the Grand Princess Riviera for June I'm thinking of. My questions are:
It's for a junior suite, and from what I've read, the junior suites are all the way in the back further from the beach, is that correct? I didn't like the looks of the lagoon, so I didn't want to be situated close to it. Would it be better to upgrade to the deluxe junior suite, and can I get a room closer to the beach with this upgrade? I'm not sure where the deluxe junior suites are in the complex. Does anyone know what building to request that would be the closest to the beach with an ocean view? Thanks for the help. |

I just got back yesterday. Had a great time. We were booked and paid for Junior Deluxe Suites. I think they had us booked in to Junior Suite by mistake. Our flight was delayed 3 hours and we waited an hour in the bus at Cancun airport so we didn't get to the resort until 4 a.m. We were exhausted as had been up for 22 hours. At check in I asked the Front Desk Clerk if we could have a room facing the pool. He showed me on the map a room he had assigned for us which was facing the construction and jungle side up at the front near the lobby. I gave him a sad look and he said he would see what he could do. He reassigned us to a Junior Deluxe room right near the beach across from the Platinum area. We actually ended up with a somewhat distant ocean view on the poolside. No mosquitoes! Our room was 6114 so if you ask for poolside, 6000 block you will get what you want. I gave the Front Desk Clerk a $10.00 tip for that. Hope it was enough!

Just returned too from the Riviera Princess and IMO you don't have to book Platnium to get service unless you want a personal waiter. We booked regular Jr Suite and were upgraded to a Deluxe. I think the only difference is the Deluxe has a jacuzzi in the room. We had a great time, the food is great we ate at the buffet the whole time except once we did the A la Carte (Mexican). I got one mosquito bite. The staff is great and friendly, we never had a problem. Enjoy!!
