Hello all

As you can see, I am new to this forum, but after lurking for a couple of weeks I can tell that many of you are extremely passionate about the PDC area. I have been visiting Cozumel for many years, but for whatever reason I have never been to the mainland.

My wife and I and another couple have our plane tickets to Coz booked for late May, but the house that we normally stay in is booked for our dates so we are going to have to find somewhere new to stay. We were thinking about taking a day trip to the playa area, but after reading many of the posts here, I am now thinking about finding a house to rent on the mainland and spending our vacation there.

I would like for you Playa.info regulars to convince me that this is in fact what we should do, and tell me why we will enjoy Playa/Akumal as much as or more than we do Cozumel. We are all in our mid-thirties and our vacations in Coz consist of lots of time spent relaxing on the beach, snorkling, visiting East side beach clubs, interacting with the locals in town and trying different restaurants. I also make a couple of dives and usually spend a half day fishing.

Please let me know how PDC/Akumal compares to Cozumel and what to expect should we decide to embark on a new adventure. We are very familiar with Coz and love our trips there, but, as they say, sometimes change is a good thing. Thanks for any input.
