Barcelo Maya Colonial - First Time

Hello All

My Hubby and I have been to Playa del Carmen, 3 times now. We were actually married at Xcaret in 2003. Once at the Riu Yucatan, once at the Riu Tequila, then we rented a home as well.

We have just found a deal for the Barcelo and are coming for a week in May.

We now have two small boys, 3 and 1 years old.

So, does any one have any suggestions or advice.

Thank you
Dawn

Can't wait

our first time at Barcelo

We'll be there May 22-31. When will you be there?
From what I've been reading, the tips I've heard including bringing your own large insulated mug (limited bar service) and making your restaurant reservations the first day to maximize your changes of getting the restaurants/times you want.
This board is wonderful.
Maybe we'll see you there.

We have been to the Barcelo and love it! They have a great "Kiddie Pool" conveniently located to a bar The pier is great also as you can buy fish food and feed the fish. I'm a fan of bring rolls from lunch! The shows are great with the most beautiful theater. Definately get up early in the morning to save chairs, at the pool and the beach. The beach is wonderful with great tide pools as well. Have a wonderful time! Food is ok, we didn't eat at any of the resteraunts, just the buffets. The property is enormous now as they have built all the way down around the point of the beach, so there are 4 hotels (?) all together. Good thing they have a train!!!

Hi Dawn!

We stayed at Barcelo Tropical over Christmas of 2006 with our kids who were 6 & 3 at the time! It is a fantastic resort for familys! The pools are gorgeous & my kids LOVED the kids waterpark! The kids had to be 4 to be left at the kids club so just my daughter went.....but you can use the facilities with the younger kids as long as you stay with them. They have a little climber there.....The beach is gorgeous...the buffets have a little part especially for the kids! We parked ourselves near a shallow end of the pool in the afternoons (when not on the beach) and the kids played & enjoyed themselves! We thought the food was great & they were very accomodating at the A la Cartes for the kids! Have fun!
