I too was addicted to Biggest Loser and saw nearly every episode. I do have two big problems with it though.
One is that their results are SO atypical from what a normal person living a normal life is able to achieve. And I'm sure people losing a typically healthy 2 lbs a week could be discouraged seeing the kind of drops these folks have. Second is that they do NOT spend enough time talking about food!!! They need to be showing what normal size portions are... what healthy food can look like... the quantities these people are eating on their weight loss program and the actual FOODS they are eating as well. Perhaps they don't do that in order to focus on this new home delivery program they're implementing but I think it does viewers a HUGE desservice, especially when they don't talk more about the need to eat to lose and that starvation doesn't cut it (although they did mention it a time or two with the girl team that wasn't having much weight loss success). Ali did a fantastic job but I have to say I didn't really like her much. She sure looked great though. It's weird to be so proud of people you never met in your life. I thought the brown team looked fantastic too, and Dan's mom looked like a different woman entirely. Anyone else question Paul's absence due to "sickness?" Kelly is sure better off without HIM! They said he wasn't there and I couldn't help but picture him wolfing down those wings on his one trip home. Illness... riiiiiight! I wasn't a huge fan of Dan or the BooHoo Boys but I was glad to see Roger as a finalist. I hope all of them are able to maintain their success and that some of them, like Kelly, keep on going even further. Anyone know when the next season begins? |

I love the Biggest Loser, I have watched it faithfully this season and I think it added to my decision to join the Weight Watchers group here at work.
Ali deserved to win, she set her goal and never gave up, I think some folks saw that her belief that she would win as arrogance but I think she truly believed in herself and followed that up with a great work ethic. To me, the biggest change was in Kelly, not just weight loss but self esteem and confidence.I liked her so much at the end of the season. I also though Mark & Roger did great, but geeze, shave that scruffy hair off your faces! As for Paul , he had several major surgeries since January and has indeed been very ill. I read this info on the boards at the Biggest Loser site on NBC: Yes, Paul is extremely ill. It all started after he left the ranch when he contracted pneumonia. Then he went back for the twist show when Mark and Ali got back on the show. After that he started having sever abdominal pain, and had to have his appendix and 6 inches of colon removed. Since that time he's at this point now had 5 surgeries, and suffered with numerous infections. I have been to the hospital to see him twice. Kelly and Paul are friends of my Husband and I. My Husband grew up with Kelly, and was alter servers with her, and also was on the local ambulance squad with her. We went to their wedding, and they to ours. Anyhow, Paul is slowly getting better, has lost a tremendous amount of weight due to his illness, but please know that nothing that he did on the show,or after he was voted off contributed to his illness. I'm sorry the new one will not be on till October, maybe I can find repeats of the other seasons I missed. |

I'm glad he's getting better though and, if it takes that to get the unhealthy weight off of him, he may be better for all of it in the long run. I hope he is. |

Alright, I knew right after I said I didn't really believe in his illness, something like this was going to come out. I hope he gets well, but I can't help but believe even if wasn't sick, he might not have wanted to be there, he never had a very good attitude, he just wanted an excuse to spend time with Kelly.

I did not like the fact that they did a look back for everyone except him. |
