Please reassure me!!

Some college friends and I are getting together to celebrate being Fab & 40 at the El Dorado Royale. Due to budgetary constraints for one of the girls we will be staying in a basic room. From what I've read on this and other forums it sounds like that if you don't upgrade to a Casita you're treated as a second class citizen. I've stayed at Royal Hideaway and am hoping to get to the Ibero* Grand in the next year so I'm a little spoiled. YES, I know that it doesn't really matter: I'm with great friends, we're in Mexico, it's adults only... but I'm still a little apprehensive. Am I being silly?

I think you're being silly! You have to just reset your standards for this trip, knowing that you're not staying at the Royal Hideaway or the IB Grand...you'll be with some wonderful friends, you'll probably spend a ton of time partying in town, and you're going to have the time of your lives. Plan on it! Feel better yet?

Look at what I've highlighted above and re-read it often to keep your priorities in order. Having college friends that you can do this trip with.... how BLESSED you are!!!!! All of my friends are either married or too poor or too afraid to go to *** horrors*** Mexico!!

So, again.. you are BLESSED, lonestarbevo!! Have a ball and to hell with what your room or your friend's room looks like. As long as your have clean sheets and a hot shower when you want it, that's ALL that will matter!!

If you guys are anything like us and our college friends- you'd have fun at a Motel 6 together So this'll be way better than that And you should consider yourself very lucky- none of our college friends are willing to afford a vacation to Mexico with us (or a vacation anywhere, for that matter- they mostly don't travel).

So relax, don't worry- you'll have a fabulous time

I know, I know, I know, my priorities were completely out of whack. I've just been sitting in the corner for a time-out and am now reformed. There were eight of us that were really close and only three (maybe four) of us are going to make the trip. Everyone else doesn't have the time, $$, energy...

Hubby and stayed at the EDR June of 2006. We did not upgrade to a casita and we were treated like a king and a queen. I ate truckloads at dinner, including desert, then went back to the room and ordered room service dessert every night. Two desserts a night- so decadent!! The servers knew us by name, and to this day I can still remember some of their names. We never needed a drink, our room was spotless- and I can go on and on. Sure we walked through the casita section, so we knew it was there, but not once did we wish we were in one of those rooms.

Honestly, I believe we were given out-of-this-world service, not because we were in a particular room, but rather because we treated the staff kindly and gave them the tips (gratuity) that they deserved. We were friendly and fun. I think that matters the most. It sounds like your group will be the same, so I am 100% sure you'll be treated just as wonderfully.

Please go there with a happy heart and you will be rewarded with kindness and great service in return- I promise!!

We stayed at the El Dorado Royale December 6th 2008 and were treated like Royalty. From the moment they opend the door of our rental car and greeted us with Champagne in the Lobby to the last moment when they loaded our suitcased back into our rental car on departure we never felt treated better at any other resort including small boutique hotels. We stayed in a Ocean View Jacuzzi Suite and not in the Casita section. We never felt as so we were treated any different than the Casita guest. The staff at this resort is wonderful. And the resort is of a high standard. I am not sure why you are under the impression this resort is not up to paar with the Iberostar or some of the other resorts. It is! Have a great time.

Here's our favorite breakfast waiter- Alejandro. I wish we could see him again. Maybe he'll be there when you are there.

And we loved this bartender, although I can't remember his name.

These guys did a shot with us. I told them that I used to be a waitress, and they didn't believe me. So they set up a drink tray with champage glasses stacked up on it. They told me if I could carry it around the room, they would do a shot. I did, so they did.

This sweetie always kept our drinks filled- including our Bubba Keg.

And this is our room-service breakfast. I think it's fit for a king and a queen!!

Hopefully these pictures should assure you that we got fabulous service without being in a casita. You are going to have a great time- I just know it!!

I agree 100%. I think it is fabulous, and hubby and I are honestly quite snobby.

PSlucky! Can I ask which Swim Up Suite number you had and in which building. It looks like a great location and right at the edge of the beach. Is it Building 55? We where in Bldg. 6 on the top floor which was a really great location for ocean view category suites with a very nice Ocean and Pool view next to the La Isla Pool. And it felt very private. You are so right. We had a very good experience there just like you. And we will be back to all the Karisma Resorts for years to come as we liked it so much that we traded our traditional California timeshare for membership and lots of Casita weeks in the Exotic Vacation Club. There are 7 Karisma Resorts by end of this year along the Riviera Maya coast. Azul View and Azul Fives will be opening in fall.

Our favorite person at the ED Royale is Ana Cecelia at the VIP Concierce Check in desk at the Lobby. She is the best and we have a new friend now.
And the lady cleaning our suite every day could have not been any sweeter. She did a great job. Lots of little fresh flowers all over every day, lots of bath products and cute towel animals. Service at this resort deserves tips for sure. And I love the Mojitos at most bars, the Pina Coladas delivered at the beach were super good and the Martinis at the Martini Bar next to the Lobby were as good if not better as any bar in Californa or Vegas. Not something we encounterd at other AI resorts we stayed at. They used the Slushy machines for drinks around the pool and beach wich I hate. Not this way at Karisma Resorts.
