Great news that you are coming to Playa!
My advice is: You are already staying at a resort, walk 15 minutes north and visit the town of Playa itself. Other resorts will be pretty much the same as you have at the Azteca, while Playa offers you an abundance of restaurants bars and clubs to experience something different and special. |

There is a second Viva Windham (Viva Maya) close by and as far as I know you can go to both and both are free for you (check out either the AI-Resort area of the Playa.Info board or the website of the Windham Azteka where this should be mentioned as well).

abgirl... I've moved your thread and changed the title so that you might get a more accurate response to your questions. I can answer a bit of it... you will have equal privileges at the Viva Wyndham Maya, a short walk from your hotel. And the Azteca is surrounded by other resorts. You will not be permitted to visit or hang out in any other All-Inclusive resort, however. As cuz said, the beach bars in town would welcome your business, though.

I think I partially answered this question in another thread, at least in regards to the Viva Maya and your guest priv's. You will have full and free access to the the Viva Maya. As I posted previously for you, we have stayed at both resorts, both before and after Wyndham took over, and had no difficulty using either property. They are very similiar, except that the Viva Maya is larger and has a larger pool area.
Some AI's do offer guest passes for the day. In at least some cases, you have to be the guest of someone who is booked at the hotel. With a guest day pass, you would be entitled to use all of the resorts facilities. It is usually relatively expensive to do this. With all there is to see and do in PDC, I can't see how it makes much sense to spend your money on a day pass to another resort. But that is just me. I can't believe how many people go to PDC, stay at an AI, and never leave the resort. We are bringing one of our 12 year old daughters friends with us during our June trip. She and her parents have been to the area, but never left the confines of the resort (except of course for airport transfers). On her trip with us she'll be staying two nights in Punta Allen, boat touring through the Si'an Ki'an, Snorkeling Yal Ku, going to Crococun, horseback riding at Racncho Punta Venado, a day at Xcaret, spending lots of time in town ... both tourist and non-tourist areas, and will definately come home speaking a little Spanish. There is so much to see and do ... even for me after almost 20 years travelling to Yucatan. And you won't see any of it by spending you cash going to other AI's for the day. IMHO ...
