Can we make a list of what to bring to GRP?

I am going to Grand Riviera Princess for my honeymoon in a couple of weeks and have been reading reviews for some time now. Everytime I read them I think "I need to remember to bring that" and then of course, I forget. So if you have been there and have some ideas of the little things that we need to bring, please let me know. Thanks!

What a great idea! When ever I read something on this board, I jot it on a post-it and then misplace the post-it! Here's a couple things I know, for sure:

1. Eco-friendly sunscreen (for cenote swimming or eco-parks)
2. Bug spray
3. US $ in singles and fives for tipping

I'll keep adding as I remember...

When I went to Shopko a few weeks ago, I found a tanning lotion that had bug spray in it! I think it was a brand called Bullfrog. I would get that.

Also, bring an insulated mug for your drinks. We forgot to bring one, and it would have been nice to have it.

I can't add anything helpful, but want to get notices of new comments to add to my own list. Thanks to all those who think of something useful for me.

I have gotten to the point where I bring as little as possible. My wife and I are able to get down there with two medium size suite cases, and one is only half full.

We no longer bring personal care producs such as soap, shampoo, hair products, contact lens solution, sun tan lotion, tooth paste, tooth brush, and so forth. All of these items can be purchased locally for about the same price as at home (except sun tan lotion which is expensive). Heck, you can even get a decent hair dryer at Wal-Mart for $12 USD. An insulated mug, as suggested above, can be purchased at Wal-Mart for a dollar or two. Why haul all of that stuff 4,000 miles?

We also have cut the amount of clothing we bring in half by either using a local laundry mat (CHEAP) or the washer/dryer in our condo if so equipped.

And if you forgot something, you can almost always get one in PDC ... including very nice (but not expensive) clothing. Just don't look for it on 5th Ave.

I sometime actually laugh out loud when I see people at the airport with 4 large suitcases for two people. Are they staying for six months?: My favorite is when they overpack their bags and have to shift their crap between bags to avoid the overweight baggage charge. Then I get a good look at the 23 bathing suits a woman will bring for 6 days on the beach.

Bring hair conditioner. They don't have it in the rooms. I bought some small plastic bottles and put my own conditioner in them for the trip so I didn't have to bring a big bottle. I also brought a floating airtight wallet on a neck cord for my room key, tip money and credit card. Lots of people asked me where I got it.

packing list

I have found that the bug repellant wipes are great and don't smell as bad as the spray. You can put them in your bag at night time when you may need them most! Ours are packed

FrankRN..although I agree with your packing stratagy I don't know that a couple going to an AI for their honeymoon would want to spend the first day of their vacation shopping for shampoo at the Walmart in Playa.

Todd....first...WELCOME and congratulations!!
.I don't go AI very much and I know nothing about the location of your hotel but I would suggest a flashlight on the chance you might want to take a walk on the beach at sunset or later. Those beaches can get really dark at night. Some plastic baggies for your dirty and/or wet clothes/shoes. A note pad and pen so you can take notes and write a trip report when you get back!!!
Beyond that...take a smile and and open heart and enjoy every minute of your trip!!

I got it at a swim wear shop. It wasn't very expensive. They come in 2 sizes. One fits just credit cards, the larger one that I got is about the size of a packet of cigarrettes. Someone told me I could put my smokes in it but since I don't smoke I had to keep lipstick and money in it!

Just ordered from Amazon.com a 60-pack of individually wrapped Cutter Advanced insect repellent wipes with Picaridin instead of Deet (paid $14.95 + shipping). I'm sure the 4 of us won't need half of that, but my daughter has cheerleading camp in the Poconos in August and the mosquitos are crazy there. She gets a bite and it's the size of a small country in no time!!!
My husband is going to laugh at me for getting these already... I just want to be prepared!
