Great pics. What kind of camera do you have?
Thanks. We got a Kodak Easy Share M883 for the trip. It's one of the little thin cameras (ours is red.) We also took our Kodak ZD710, but it is bulkier and we hardly used it.

Thanks to every one for the positive feedback. We just got finished with homework and got the kiddos to bed. I am going to start working on day two.

How did you get such a nice view? Did you book the basis room or an upgraded one? We're visiting June 10-20, and have 2 rooms, so I will probably request yours, although we just have a basic room booked.

Marty
This year we paid for the courtyard view. It's about $30-$40 more a night.
Last year, we paid for garden view (view of resorts on either side and ocean from balcony), but were upgraded to a courtyard view. About a week before we arrived last May, I sent an email to the hotel requesting the upgrade if available and got lucky. You can see photos in thread of last year's trip report.

Day Two, April 13th
Again I wake up early, about 6am. This will continue to be the theme of our mornings on this trip. The excitement of a new day where the most difficult decision will be pool or beach or both, is too much. After breakfast we decide on both, morning pool/afternoon beach. Just going to take it easy at resort today. Peep meet is tonight at Beer Bucket, and we want to reserve our strength.

Forgot to take camera to breakfast buffet, but will remedy this tomorrow.

I'm not one to sit still for long so while Kylee reads I wander for a walk on the beach with the camera.

Ship at sea

A couple more of the ship as a panned back.

Iguana on the beach in front of resort

As I stroll along the beach, I stop for morning refreshments at the Riu Palace Mexico's beach bar

After the beach walk, decide to take out the complimentary kayak. Although it doesn't look it, the water was a little rough so didn't stay out too long. Most of the week were yellow flag days, but a yellow flag in Playa is better than a green flag at work...or something like that.

After a nice walk and a row it's time for lunch. We were a little early, but enjoyed our view from our table at Chilis, the resort's beach/lunch restaurant, while we waited.

Hey, I'm ready to chow!

Sushi chef hard at work.

After lunch, it's time to relax. Our view most of the afternoon.

This year the resort had great beach drink service. Someone was by every half hour to hour for drink order and to pick up empty cups. Even if you had to fetch your own, they had a beach bar set up with sodas, water and most importantly beer.

Beach or pool, Kylee's veiw was mostly between the covers of a book. With 6 and 3 y/o boys we never have time to read at home, so she's taking advantage.

On our way to the room to get ready for dinner, we noticed this lost in translation. Should we "stop" in case of fire?

Day Two Continued, April 13th
The peep meet was set for 7pm, and we planned to grab a bite at the resort buffet before heading down to the Bucket. Just wanted a layer of bread before the beer, but I was too pumped and rushed Kylee out the door and into a cab. We’ll eat on our way.
Once in town we stop here for dinner.

We opt for the balcony seating and are lead upstairs. Once seated we are given 3 menus to choose from - seafood, Mexican and Italian. We order drinks and browse through the selections. The mood is romantic and relaxed. Perfect for any time other than when a selfish husband wants to get to the meet. It is decided that we will just have our drinks and grab something quick before the meet.

Off to the Tequila Barrell for chicken tenders and chips.

It was great to meet everyone, and we had a great time. I've posted pics of our small but hardy group in the peep meet thread, but wanted to post a picture of my beautiful wife (with Aaron's wife Cheryl she's a looker, too)

Day Three (Day of the beach walk), April 14th
First, a little info about the reservation system at the RPRM. As far as I know, there are no limits on visits to the ala carts. There is an Asian, Brazilian, Mexican, Steak house, and the hard to schedule gourmet restaurant. You can only reserve 3 days out, and the booking is done between 12 and 3 in the lobby bar lounge. In addition, the dress code at the ala cartes is enforced. Pants and collared shirt for men, and the ladies wore mostly sundresses or skirts with a nice blouse. As for sandals on men, I saw a gentleman who was denied entry to an ala carte because he was wearing those hiking sandals with all the straps, but I was allowed in with cloth Sketcher flip flops. (I forgot to pack closed toe shoes, but recommend that men bring theirs.)
On Sunday, I stopped by at 2 and no one was waiting. There were no available seating’s for that night, so booked the Asian for Monday. Today might prove to be different…
Again we are up early. We had forgotten to hang our breakfast room service card on the door last night, so like a good husband I hustle down to the buffet to rustle up Kylee’s toast and jam. Today we don’t have much planned. Tomorrow I am going diving, and we are thinking of an excursion for Wednesday.
While Kylee is getting ready, I head down to breakfast. The breakfast buffet is huge with just about anything you could want for breakfast.
This is my typical morning fare.

My view while eating.

Since it is still early, I decide to take a couple of resort photos.
The reflection pool in the courtyard.

The lobby bar

A few of the sports bar

The internet station inside sports bar

The 24 hour snack bar

WOW...Great photos and updates. You just don't get photos like this sometimes and it helps to give more of a feel for the actually resort.
We are going to Palace Mexico, but just seeing the beach and the sun...Man I am ready for August.
