oh Char, that's terrible...you guys have been having a rough time lately. Poor Michael. So was it broken?
![]() Lola, you go ahead a spill about your day....you can cheer us all up, at least. My day improved, I got to do a bit of a good deed and go pick up my mother in law after day surgery at the hospital after I got off work. It went well and I delivered her safely home- through a blizzard. Stupid weather. |

yep, the elbow is broken... i knew it... shoulder is fine, though, so that's good at least...
tomorrow he goes to the orthopedic surgeon for the full cast... right now he's in a splint and a sling... the sling he keeps pulling off over his head, so Ryan has been trying to rig something with another piece of string added to the sling... |

I wonder if you could wrap an ace/tensor bandage around Michael and his arm in the sling to keep the arm close to his body - or would he find that too constricting?? I hope you are feeling a bit better too and are able to get some good rest tonight... ![]() |

I'm so sorry about his elbow. Poor guy he's been going through so much lately. I hope the cast doesn't bother him too much and it heals quickly.
How long will the cast stay on? More h ugs coming your way! My brother had seizures when he was younger, and had grand mal seizures. When he was almost 19 they just stopped. The dr.s said a plate in his head closed up. In most boy's it closes at about 18 and they thought that was the cause of his seizures! |

That is awesome for your brother. Unfortunately that won't happen with Michael. He has an underlying condition (tuberous sclerosis) causing some undeveloped areas in his brain, which accounts for his mental disabilities and his seizures--and he's had every type of seizure--grand mal, petit mal, partial, hell whatever else there is. Those areas in his brain will never develop. Many kids with his condition also have autism, which he does. And in his case he also has benign tumors in his kidneys causing his high blood pressure and the red marks on his face that you might have seen in some pictures are also benign tumors. There are fancy medical names for all of those things, and I could dredge them up out of the dusty recesses of my addled brain, but I'm too tired.
![]() They wanted to wait til Thursday to do the cast, but when we explained he was mentally disabled and would not keep the sling on and was going to pick at the splint and wrappings, they bumped us up til tomorrow morning. They wanted 48 hours for the swelling to go down before casting him. I guess 39 is close enough. Meanwhile he's just been lounging on the living room floor right here next to me. Mostly looking pretty dozey. They said the shock to his system could make him sleepy last night. Wasn't expecting it to carry over to today, but it's actually a good thing as he's not trying to walk/run around. ![]() |

Sorry I didn't reply sooner! My computer was acting up and I had a hair app.
Wish you could get his seizures under control. Don'tcha love all the big names they have for everything. Hope they can get the cast on without too much stress on him. Lounging is a good thing! Hopefully he sleeps tonight for ya'll. (((HUGS))) |

you are so sweet speaking of sleep... miss G slept all night in her big girl bed last night... usually about 3 or 4 in the morning she wakes up and comes downstairs to climb into bed with me... no biggie, I don't care... but that was the reason we moved her out of the crib--I didn't want her trying to climb out of there at 4 in the morning ![]() last night was from 10:30 til 7:30.... yay! |
