I take it you are not feeling Jah's positive vibrations this evening?

Yes, I know it well. As I recall, it became the basis for the different sects of christianity that exist today? Talk about politics in religion! I am surprised anyone would point to those events to validate religion as it draws attention to the fact that even Christians can't agree among themselves as to the teachings of Jesus. The reformation also points to another christian bloodbath perpertrated by man in the name of God.

Definately not christianities shining moment.

That's all I'm saying, and I've also been up late eating fresh fish I caught today with a bunch of wonderful friends whom I respect for who they are and what they made of themselves without necessarily needing gods to do everything for them.

I decided to wake up three hours earlier than usual to provide my friends with a nice meal so that we could be together and have a good time: I gave them what I could/chose to, they gave me the generosity of sharing and genuinely enjoying it so why the f**k couldn't we have done that without having been influenced by some skanky god??!!
I don't know. I like shellfish, but not fish, fish. Do you think, as someone who knows the ocean, that a prehistoric shark like the Megalodon, could still exist?

I havent been following the God conversation. I"m just up late.

On the contrary. Although the positive vibrations came from Sheetal, Matan, Denise, Ken, Todd, John, Paula, Ross, my dog Paddy, Ken's dog Chloe and the sweet little chihuaha whose name escapes me at the moment.

If it existed before, it could still be cruising the depths fighting for daily survival and sustenance: there is plenty of proof it existed, none as to it's extinction.

Yes, it really could still exist. I am very interested in sharks, and afraid of them. And barracudas too.

Mercy...I have a proposition on the God/Man thing. What if, as I believe most of the bible is, the Jesus being both God and man is a parable as to how to live your life. Singling out one ManGod to use as an example of how we can all live our lives without coveting one another's life, without excesses, without sin. The literal translation that he WAS actually both may in fact be wrong. Along the same lines, the resurrection could mean that you can rise above your past and still live a better life style.
Anyway, that's the way I view the bible. Not a no holds barred book of rules to adhere to and take literally. Rather a guidebook of parables suggesting a simple way to explain life to the masses. Written when stories conveyed a message better then a list of rules. I see organized religion as a few powerful people taking that message to extreme to gain status/wealth/control for themselves and making the masses tow the line according to the bible.
Just as many Christians view Islam as being a totalitarian religion, Christianity was there at one point as well.

Again, just my $.02 worth

Wow what a fitting description on this particular thread! Although we'd have to change extinction to existence.

I can assure you, however, that the idea of the flying spaghetti monster was NOT meant to be insulting, rather, as an affective (and, hopefully, funny) way to make a very valid point.

It was never meant to be insulting, at all, in any way! As I've said, many times, I TOTALLY respect your right to practice your faith as you choose, and would fight like hell ANYONE trying to interfere with that right! At the same time, if you (or anyone else) tries to put your faith in the public classroom, I'm going to fight that as well!
Yes, I do take offense at comments like that, and the highlighted part illustrates that you were indeed trying to impress your friends here and be funny... at mine and other Christians expense. You and others have said many rude and insulting things here and on the other thread (Expelled). Is that your idea of respect? You're a smart man Stewart, you should know better. If I quoted all those comments in would take up a few pages here. So don't you go acting the martyr here in saying, *What did I do?*
I'm going to church now to worship my God, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, the Creator of the Universe, because He is holy and worthy of all my praise!

BTW, I'm not mad and I'll be back whether you like it or not

PS: Why does Frank keep talking about the Catholics

Enjoy your Sunday, Mercy, in whatever way you see fit. C'mon back at your leisure. I suspect there's little doubt this will still be going. Lots of folks around who are in love with the sound of their own voice.
