![]() Religion is used as a smokescreen, an excuse, for some (even most, sure) wars, of course. And serves as a way to convince young men to willingly go off to war....if they didn't believe they were going to be rewarded in the afterlife, would they go off to die so willingly, not likely.... If all soliders were atheists, I bet there wouldn't be too many volunteers. This is especially apparent with suicide bombers- those 72 virgins are a big incentive, I guess. |

Yes, I believe that would be a no-no in heaven in pratically every religion I could think of: no procreation, no increase in souls to feed the particular god's insatiable appetite for expansion and less taxpayers to fill the coffers of "god's men". Although it may feel like heaven on earth to many people (and why not) current catholicism has only readapted as far as allowing non-practicing homosexuals (apart from many of it's own priests, of course).

Ah, but a fun journey, a fun journey....
And, yet another example of sexism in religion, why don't women who sacrifice themselves get that reward? ![]() Although....for a woman, getting stuck with 72 male virgins ....on second thought, yeah, not really a reward.
