Best place to buy a mattress?
Where is the best place to buy a mattress in Playa? My family is buying a vacation home there, and all the beds are fine except the one in the Master which is rock hard. This is our first priority and would love to walk in somewhere and just have it delivered.

Check with your property manager if you have one. When we get back down there we're just going to get a memory foam topper at Costco in Cancun for our hard one. I don't know if Sam's in Playa has them. |

Is there an Electra in Playa? They deliver. I don't think Sam's or Walmart do. We bought a mattress for my mother-in-law in Chetumal last summer and it was one of the best ones I've ever tried. Took many a good nap on it, I did.

If you get a mattress at Sam's or Walmart you will have to get it delivered. You can usually find a truck in the parking lot, they are red pickups and have some sort of covered canopy on the back. They say "Fletes y Mudanzas". It shouldn't cost more than $200 pesos to get your matress home. If you want to be sure to get a mover to meet you there you can call the mover that I use at 9848796324, I cannot remember his name though. He is a nice guy and speaks enough english to be helpful.

The memory foam toppers from Costco are FABULOUS!! 3 inch thick Novaform is the brand. They make the world of difference to the rock hard spring mattresses
I wish someone would sell foam mattresses down there - I'd be all over them in a heartbeat! Even if you buy the best Sealy spring mattresses with their so called 'soft topper' built in, they squish down within 2-3 years (I HATE spring mattresses!) - so the memory foam toppers are a good compensation. A friend was recently in the new City Club in Playa and she said they had the memory foam toppers there.....she noticed this as she remembered all the fuss I had to go to, to locate the other ones from costco in cancun last yr!! So fingers crossed they may still have some - don't know what brand tho.Oh....and yes Costco delivers and they are SOOOO helpful there and have staff that speak english. |
