Are American actors all really British?

First it was mysteriously The X-Files - Dana Scully, then later on Dr House was prescribed, rapidly followed by the Bionic Woman, and now Terminator deals a crushing blow to California hopefuls in - The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

All British actors putting on US accents!

You must have a few decent actors available out the heaving masses. Curious eh?

How convincing are they?

Actually there are two acotrs on Brothers & Sisters that are british and I never would have known except they were both on a talk show (at different times) and I first thought to myself...why were they putting on a british accent? Ha...then I realized how convincing they really were with their US accents.

Brothers & Sisters - I don't know that show.

Oh, I've just remembered 'Chuck' from pushing Daisies is British too.

Add Jamie Bamber from my favorite t.v.show, Battlestar Galactica (new series) to the list. He loses the accent for the series, so in order to drool over him and his beautiful voice, I break out my Horatio Hornblower dvds.

Reed Richards from the Fantastic 4 movies is actually Welsh.

From the mists of time: Charlie Chaplin (terrible accent), Stan Laurel, Cary Grant

And Bob Hope's manor was Eltham, as Claire insists on reminding me every single time he comes on the telly.

Phony septic tanks, the lot of them!

It goes the other way as well ....look at Bridget Jones being played by Renee Zellweger and and Gwyneth Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love and Sense and Sensibility ( isn't that the one she was in?). Seems very odd, but they are trying to draw a bigger American audience by having big-name American actors, I guess.

I love House.
