Trip Report from Iberostar Tucan & Quetzal

Hello everyone, we just got back 5 hours ago from this fantastic resort. Really i've never bin to some resort like this before, it's great. Oke the beach is really sad too see, but they are working hard to get it back and the construction on the Quetzal side, its almost done. I've made some pictures over there and i will post them. The people that are working there are doing anything to enjoy you and the amusement team is great. Say hi to Andy ,Miguel, Beto, Lilian, Kaeyla etc. from us if you go there. The Hotel is very, very clean and the food is very good. We had nothing to complain. I really can say that if you don't like it here then i don't know what you like. The jungle is beatifull to see, especially in the evening. We are going back to this resort one day. Don't deside not to go there because of the beaches because there are still pretty beaches left when you pass Sandos.

IT'S FATANSTIC!!

Greetings from holland

No, we don't want to miss Queen's day. hahahaha. We really had a great time over there. We arrived in amsterdam today at 11.10 am. So we are totally exhausted right now. I would try this evening to put the photo's on the board. We shall think about a trip report but we don't know it yet.

Greetings from us

Take it easy. Jet lag can be a bitch, especially when returning from the west.
I'm curious to see what you'll have to show us, though.

Hope it helps.

Trip report from Iberostar Tucan & Quetzal

Day 1 : April 20th 2008

Us at the airport schiphol.

Us in the airplane.

We fly from Amsterdam to Cancun and it took us 10 hours and 30 minutes to get there. Then we went with the bus to our resort, we were there at 7.00 pm. So it was a very long day but it was worth it. Before we checked in we get something to drink. So the first impression was very good and it only got better.

We checked in and we were staying in building #17, we had room #1721. This building is close to the restaurant. The room also was very clean and we had a double bed in it.

We let our stuff over there and we freshed up and went to the restaurant to have a little meal. When we get there the people give us a warm welkom and brought us to our table. (smoking area) The food was very tasty and there was a lot of choise. After we had diner we went for a walk to see the resort. Really it was very beatifull with all the lights in the jungle.

Our view from the balcony.

My lovely girl in the jungle

Great report! Love the pictures.

I'm always amazed by how everyone else can speak more than one language. (I took one year of German in high school, and my teacher suggested that I stick to English. Haven't even counquered it yet.)

Wow fantastic pics and report. I remember standing right where the seawall was before they poured the concrete and back filled with sand. Beach looked about the same. Thanks for the report & pics - looking forward to more!

Trip Report from Iberostar Tucan & Quetzal

Day 2 : April 21 th 2008

We had a nice sleep although the bed were a little bit on the hard side. It didn't bothered us, we like a bed a little bit harder. When you don't want this, go to the reception and ask for a soft matras, it's like a soft thin plaid and it really helps (we've heard this helps). We took a shower and we went for breakfast.

Our bathroom.

Our building and we were sleeping left in the middle.

We also took a few pictures of the breakfast, so that you can see that there was enough to eat. When you complain about the food in this resort, from our opinion, we think that you've better could stay at home. Oke there could be a day that you don't like it, we had it to, but they do the best they can for anyone. We loved the food, there was many variaty. There wasn't a day, we were there, that it was the same. Also in the evening.

My lovely girl Christel enjoying her breakfast.

Me enjoying my breakfast.

After the nice meal we take a walk to see the resort by daylight. It was more beatifull when you see it in real then on the internet. We couldn't stop making pictures during our holliday. We had taken over 500 pictures in eight days, so we can't share them all with you. When we went through the jungle you hear everything, the peacock, the birds, the monkeys, etc. We show you some pictures of it.

When we passed the jungle, this was the part on the tucan side, we came to the swimmingpool and after the swimmingpool we came to the beach. This was the part where i stood still for a moment. The beach is so much changed, i was in the resort next door (Then royal maeva now Sandos) 11 years ago, the beach was a paradise. When i saw it now, there was nothing left off it. They are really trying to get it back but i think that it won't work. I spoke a man at the dive-centre and he said to me that the only way to get it back is with a ship that will return the sand from the ocean to the beach, only the biggest problem is that the beach is property off the government, and they will not take there responsebillity. The hotels had, a few months before it happend, a plan to build a reef in front off the beach so that the waves will break earlier. The plan and the money was even there, but the gouvernment throwed it from the table. This whole erosion happend 2 months later. It just happend in 2 weeks, it started by the peer and it stopped just by tucan. Sandos is not hit that mutch and has a great beach and a little bit further it's even nicer. Oke i didn't say that there is no beach left at tucan, there is and there are enough beds to lay down, but the view isn't the same with the big whales in front off you.

We found it very impressive what we saw, that nature can be so strong we couldn't even imagine. After this we went to the swimmingpool and enjoy our sun. We didn't do that mutch that day, just eat and swim and eat and swim oke we drink a lot of cocktails and they were very nice. We wanted to try them all and we allmost succeed. hahahaha.

After we had a great swim in the pool we got back to the room and we took a shower, and of course aftersun. The climate is really good down here, it was 33 degrees celcius or higher. In the evening we enjoyed our buffed and it also was very good. You don't here us complaining because there was nothing to complain. We took a little walk and i've made some pictures. Hope you like them.

Awesome report so far. Great pics. We stayed at the quetzal in 2002 and next door at the sandos in 2006. Sad to see the beach erosion like it is , they had the beautiful beach then. You had an awesome time and I can tell from your pics and post so far that you made it the best for the 2 of you!! Keep it coming, looking forward to the rest of your trip pics and report..

Wonderful report, please keep it coming. I see the beach but I also see the lush vegetation and know why I will be returning in August.
