![]() I had never heard of that one (unsurprisingly ). Very cool, thanks Flash.Sidd Finch - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Good one Stew (compassionate conservative). ![]() If you could possibly find the name of that B&B I would appreciate it, yes. It is SUCH a pretty town. Plus I had my best meal there, roast lamb and yorkshire pudding at the pub (something to do with a lion in the name? ).I had to Google Benelux, David. I thought it was a tour company. ![]() I think maybe Dad and I could do that next fall instead. Scotland or Ireland, very good possibilities, yes. Is your Dad as funny and cute as you are, I could stop in and give him a hug. You can take a ferry to Ireland from Holyhead- is that correct? ![]() |

If it's the Red Lion you'll be spoilt for choice, as it's the most common pub name!

![]() Yes you can take the ferry from Holyhead. You'll get to see some of Wales this way too. |

![]() ![]() That reminded me of the Jackelope too. And those pictures of the giant grasshoppers. David- He sounds pretty great. ![]() An engineer in my office has a 'cottage' in Wales. I was asking him about it yesterday. He assured me it was pretty rustic, though, to say the least, and nowhere we would want to stay. I will look into that ferry, that is another idea. It is going to be left up to Mom, where she wants to go. Thanks for your help, I might PM you more questions yet. ![]() |

Oh, another attraction in Dorset is the ancient Cerne Abbas giant.

Crop circles, oh yes.
People had seen simple ones for years. I think wind and rain caused them. The elaborate ones happened later. One would often appear conveniently at the bottom of a hill which at the top had a car park and ice cream van. Hmm. The farmer would also charge £1 to view it close up. |

![]() They set you up saying the guy threw 135 MPH, and then told you that was his curve! ![]() Yuk, yuk. And in our own little realm, don't forget, "Playa.Info Moderate!" Our hey, for that matter, Maggie's own "free Starbucks coffee on Earth Day" hoax. That got me, at least! ![]() But seriously, no one has yet mentioned the UFOs at Roswell (or were they not a hoax!)? I'd think that'd be right up there on people's lists. How about Milli Vanilli? Also there is one about the name "Idaho" being just something a guy made up, not any Indian name, after all... Steve |

Also supposedly the supposedly intentional misnaming of Iceland and Greenland as PR tactics or whatever... If real, that might be a big one.

Don't sweat it (but no, they wouldn't).
Sorry I missed your Milli Vanilli reference. Along similar lines, here's a bonus for you I don't think anyone mentioned: Joyce Hatto Hoax. Might not be the most engaging run-down of it, but an entertaining story, especially given the staid context it occurred in. Particularly humorous is the way it was first turned up. Steve |

More of a trick than a hoax, but actually rather elaborate, when you read about it: The Potato Caper.
