3 weeks to go!
Hello!
I've watched this forum for a year now - when I booked the first part of our vacation. I'm hoping someone can reassure me that we're going to have a fabulous trip! Celebrating our 25th anniversary! We leave 5/23 for 1 week at the Royal Cancun - I chose Cancun because I swear my husband has adult ADD and I wanted to make sure we'd have a lot to do! However, after looking at spending our 2nd week somewhere in the states, we finally decided a few weeks ago to add 5 days at the Royal in Playa. I was also looking at the new Excellence resort in the area, and the Secrets resort. I researched our trip to death last year - and am driving myself crazy wondering if I made the right decision. What we are looking for is a very nice resort - we want to be pampered - but don't want the "snooty" feel you get at a lot of 5 star resorts. We want the opportunity to either do a lot of activities on and off the resorts, or to relax at the resort - not sure how we'll feel once we get there. That's why we thought the location of the Royal in Playa would be ideal. We are staying in a corner suite in Cancun, and a beachfront walkout in Playa. I realize each person has their own opinions, but do you think we're in for a great time? We do have trip insurance, and can still make changes to this trip. Thanks for any guidance you can give!!!! |

) I can't speak to either of the resorts that you've chosen, so I won't even try, and I haven't stayed in Cancun, so again - I dunno... But I do think that you will have a great time on your anniversary trip. Just relax, enjoy each other, and enjoy Mexico. Try not to fret, take things as they come up, and look for the wonderful experiences that you'll have in the area! You're right, each person has their own opinions, so only you can decide on the vacation that's perfect for you and your husband. The only suggestion that I might make would be to stay the entire time in Playa! I love it there, and I can't imagine staying in Cancun after I've spent time in Playa.Have a great trip! Don't let the angst factor get to you right now! Oh yeah - and welcome to the forum! |

Cancun was nice and we enjoyed it (and there is a lot to do off the resort) - easy to take the bus or walk.
We enjoy further south as I think it is a bit more laid back - I am sure you will have a great time no matter where you stay. |

After I read her report, I googled the Royal in PDC and it looks very pamper-ish. I wouldn't make a single change ... I think you've got a great mix of busy for husband and pampering. Have a great time! |
