Thanks for getting this thread up Rick. Keep up the great work.

Awesome to finally see this project becoming a reality.

A&J, You can count on me to sponsor a kennel. I will see you in a couple of weeks with cash in hand.

Michelle and Rob: You two are a class act. Nice job with the commision donation.

Heather and Andy! i have 2 tables booked, I will get there soon so I can find a good spot 8 2 years ago i was in the sun for like 8 hours , DON't need that this time. Of course should you wish to bring stuff to sell, you are most welcome ( we could also put like a banner saying where the money will go to, so people may become more inspired to buy?? Andy can we do this???? ). Let me know!

Progress Report!

We had a good day!
The crew showed up, cleared out some pesky brush and started the trenches for the wall foundation.

We even had our first delivery today...stone for the foundation...woohoo

There is A LOT of trash, debris and brush on this lot. We found out today that we cannot burn anything on the property - not even with a permit. So....we'll have a party soon to move all of this off site (volunteers anyone?)

Nothing too unexpected today. We have some issues with tree roots and the foundation and a minor inconvenience of digging up electrical lines which we will have to move. Other than that, no surprises. No snakes. No dead bodies. No bugs, cuts or scrapes.

A good day for the official start of construction.

Maureen HI!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won't be there sunday cause I have a baby shower to go to, but I'm giving Anna lots of Emma's stuff for the same cause - maybe you can buy some for your granddaughter. I'll have a girly triciclo, a little car you push and she can sit in, and mostly clothes (in very good shape!!!). Sizes 2-3 years. I wish I could go too.

Thank you Rick for the pics and progress report. Glad to see it has been relatively surprise free especially the no snakes and/or dead bodies thing.

It is funny, the only place that turned me down for posting a flyer (thanks Maureen) was my vet. Barber shop, groomer, coffee shop, etc. no problemo

Rick/Andy,

Just sent a small donation via paypal and the peanutpetshelter url link. I challenge all of you May/June/July/August/September visiting peeps to do the same.

We were able to make a difference when the hurricane hit last year, so let's do the same again.

Mike

Construction Update - May 15

Well...that big pile of rock...

is rapidly becoming the foundation for the walls. Sweet!!

We had a large crew today...and it's HOT! Kudos to those hard workers!

It is very exciting to watch all of this come together and to witness the support that Andy & Jen (and the pups) are receiving.
Keep it coming folks!

Thanx for the pix. It looks like it's going well.

I'll keep trying to squeeze blood from Milwaukee turnips.

Wow, that's great!! How in the heck do they take those big rocks and make 'em level like that?? I will never understand anything, I swear.

yeah...it's an amazing amount of work. Not only lugging those suckers around but hammering and chiseling those rocks till they fit in place (and level for god's sake!)
Andy and I had to step in the shade and rest (and sip a beer)...just from watching them.
