CRM last year, CRT this year...

We're leaving for the CRT in a few days, our 1st visit to this particular resort.

We stayed at the CRM and while we thoroughly enjoyed the food (excellent buffets), the suite (very comfortable), the Lookey Bar at night (relaxing), etc., the beach was disappointing.

Can anyone compare the two resorts (Shammy???) as I understand they are both HC properties. We understand the beach is much better...

Is the food as good?

Light and Amber Dos Equis again?

The rooms?

Any other hints, comments, or considerations?

Thanks,
S'Bee

I'll be there for a week starting tomorrow! I've never stayed there before but I've spent many a sunny afternoon on the beach next door and that is exactly why we chose it. Amazing beach!!!
I was reading some not so great reviews a few months ago but most reviews in the last 3 months have been extremely positive. They've just completed a remodel of all the rooms and are now in the process going all adult in Nov so many aspects of the hotel are being "upgraded".

And yes XX

We stayed at CRT in March 07 (2nd visit) last year and CRM in July ,07, only 3.5 months later. We personally prefer CRT. The rooms are nicer (regular rooms), the grounds are nicer and the resort is just a bit more refined than CRM. There are no ceanview rooms at CRT. We thought the food and service were at par for the most part, but we did prefer the a la cartes at CRM and the buffets at CRT. We met a fabulous bartender at CRM, who really made out trip very special. The beach at CRT is by far superior and that's a huge factor for us. CRM seemed to have more for families with older children. CRT has a great kids club for younger children, but that sometimes is dependent on the ages of the kids during your stay.
Since our visit, they have added room service and we heard that food and drinks are improving. CRT is a great value, but not luxurious. IT's 5* rating can be misleading to some. Go and enjoy!!!
CRT is going adults only in November. That's very exciting for us.
