Looking for AI in Akumal - Any Advice?

We last stayed at the Royal in PDC, and we really liked the AI thing. We'd like to see more of Akumal, and do lots of snorkeling. (Also, we liked that Akumal seemed more out-of-the-way than the Royal.)
Those of you who've stayed at Akumal AIs (even the Tulum area): we'd sure like you to weigh in. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I can recommend Dreams Tulum. It's south of Akumal by quite a bit but it's a beautiful and more remote resort.

Thanks, Susie-Just googled it and it looks so nice. Got great reviews on several travel sites, too. We'll look into this one further.

Thanks for posting the report...can't wait to see your photos! I'm interested in the retro furniture. Other review sites are pretty split on ratings. We'll check out their website, too.
Thanks for the reply. We'll pm you with ???s

Thank you, Leonardito!

You had us on the edge of our seats with your trip report, woven into such a clever story and with such beautiful photos. Truth be told, we were already leaning toward Gran Principe as it was, and this certainly takes us over the top. (We're also casual students of the Mayan Long Count and the mysterious 12/21/2012.) If we treat ourselves to a stay at this resort, we'll trace your footsteps, completing all that is required to gain favor from the Jaguar for a fun and romantic adventure. Thank you so much for taking the time to share! We'll visit your other links too.

The Grand Palladium is about 10 minutes north of Akumal. A beautiful resort with good snorkeling, great food a perfect beach. Catch the collectivo to Akumal right out front.
