Local H: It's proud I am

...to announce that one of my oldest and dearest friends is now on Day 2 of a week-long set of sold-out shows at Chicago's Beat Kitchen. Local H is a band comprised of my dear friend Scott Lucas (an old HS friend and someone that I love as family) and Brian St. Clair, (of Chicago's Rights of the Accused and the wondrous Triple Fast Action).

You might be familiar with one or two of Local H's songs without even knowing it: Bound for the Floor (which can be found here) or Eddie Vedder (which I can't find anywhere that I can link to, but trust me, you've probably heard it).

This week-long series of shows is a kickoff to a US tour in support of their newest album, Twelve Angry Months, a concept record of 12 songs representing each month in a year of overcoming a major relationship breakup.

You can see if they'll be touring anywhere near you at LOCALH.COM - The Official Local H Website.

I'm unbelievably sad and envious that I will not get to see them live at ANY of these shows. I would be singing my bloody guts out to every song, if I could.

These are just two incredibly talented, laid-back, down-to-earth, normal guys who happen to frickin' rock. Check out these dynamite photos, all taken by the gifted Matt Birhanzel of ShatterTheLens.com > Home

I think I head the name Eddie Vedder in connection with the movie 'Into the Wild' - one of the songs on the soundtrack. I have two of his songs on my IPod right now. Maybe you could find a link to him from the Into the Wild webpage? Just a thought.

Like I said, you've probably heard their songs on the radio without knowing it. Their second album, As Good As Dead, went gold and they've had a number of songs played from their other albums, too.

I'll check that out, that's one I didn't know about. I do know their music has been in other movies, one of which was White Men Can't Jump.

If you like loud and high-energy, they are.

I thought you might like them, James; I hope I was right. Yeah, would LOVE to see them at some point on this upcoming tour, but it's not in the cards. Hopefully they'll be playing somewhere in September, or maybe Scott will have a solo show (he has some acoustic stuff here).

Ah, here's something you might find interesting, James A. and Bluespicker: they don't have a bass player. Scott formed this band in HS (I think under a different name, can't remember) as a 4 man band, but eventually it went down to Scott and the original drummer (Joe Daniels, a man I was a cheerleader with in HS). Not able to find a bass player, Scott found a way to install bass pickups into his six string guitar and they have been a 2 man band ever since. Please don't ask me anything technical about how he plays both bass and lead guitar at the same time, 'cause I'm an idiot and have no idea about any of it.

It does help that both guys are pretty hot. I'm a sucker for the musicians, it's amazing I never really dated any.

Very cool Heather. If ya came up to Chicago I'd go see a show with ya. I know I've seen these guys at some point, just don't remember when or where, it was years ago. I know they had a couple radio hits. I actually think a friend of mine who is a photographer might know them, he shoots alot of shows at atll the smaller Chicago venues, unless I'm thinking of another band.
