Not enough to deter so much of the unnecessary car use and waste of precious natural resources that is a major contributing factor to the world food crisis.
100 million people are already going hungry so that Mr Rodriguez of Playa del Carmen can drive the 500 metres to the town centre and then drive around for another 10 minutes looking for a parking space. Last edited by Daddy B; 05-09-2008 at 08:19 AM. |

I know that gas in San Francisco is higher than $3.32 ~ more like $4.42? In Tampa, regular at some of the cheaper places is currently at $3.56.
Bet people who bought diesel cars, thinking that they would save money, are wishing they didn't own them now. Last edited by JoanieBlon; 05-09-2008 at 10:46 AM. |

Obviously, that chart is from awhile ago, as I'm sure it doesn't represent current US prices accurately. Yesterday, the highest (and most common) price I saw was 3.79, but I found some at 3.75. The cheapest I've seen it since I got here was 3.49... hoping I can find that again for the little bit I'm gonna need in order to take my rental car back on empty.

$1.32 a litre Canadian.
(someone do the math, I suck at math. )Like Daddy B said, not enough to deter us from driving, it's a necessary evil and you adjust to the rising prices. In my opinion, we really shouldn't complain about the price of an ever harder to get non- renewable resource.

I am not James but I don't get the point of this question.
![]() are you trying to say because people in countries with universal healthcare don't have to pay for health insurance (we actually DO pay for extra health insurance, just not as much) it's okay that we have to spend more on gas, or what? Because I think the higher taxes we pay to get that 'free' healthcare kind of balances things out, don't you?

At $3.65/gal here it is becoming harder for some to adjust.

If we paid $6.00 a gal. and $2.00 was tax that paid health care, that type of thing. |

I think this can also be said because too often we here in the US are told not to complain about the cost of gas because it costs blah blah blah in Europe or elsewhere, but they don't factor in that a majority of that is taxes. And part of those taxes go to pay for their healthcare. If you factored in the $450 a month that I pay for health care into the cost of my gasoline every month - I would much rather pay the 8.00 a gallon you do in Europe and would NEVER complain.....Look how good ya'll have it - we have a right to complain about the cost!
