May 3, Day 4 - If anyone was there at the same time and wants to dispute my chronological order of reporting events, I cannot be held responsible for memories clouded by adult beverages
![]() It was another beautiful day in Paradise. God, I love Playa, Mexico, the Grand. I love being on vacation. I love drinking Havana rum. We went to Bella Vista for breakfast. Boy, the service here was pretty bad. The food was pretty good though and it certainly wasn't bad enough to ruin our vacation. But it really stood out in pretty stark contrast to all the other restaurants. I think this was the morning I asked for hot tea and they brought the tea bags and I had to ask twice for hot water. We got ready for the beach and left a note asking that the ice bucket the champagne was in be refilled. We stopped at the towel hut and I was so proud of myself when I said "Quatro!" (That's "four" for those of you whose Spanish is even more rudimentry than mine.) She smiled and said "Quatro what?" Uhhhhh - "Por favor?" She replied "Quatro toalles." I ditifully repeated it a couple times, and she gave me our towels. You wouldn't think this would be a hard word to remember, would you? We settled ourselves in on the beach. It was not long before "He" arrived, the man of my dreams. Carlos, quite possible the best beach waiter EVER. He was carrying a tray of cold water bottles. He introduced himself and said Friday was his day off, but he was here the rest of the week. Was there anything we wanted to drink? We ordered a Miami Vice and a Havana and coke, "Mas fuertes." (Yes, he laughed). ![]() Carlos always brought around cold water in the morning and insisted we take some. We did not yet know how wonderful he would be. As usual, we tipped him when he brought our drinks and he said "Oh, thank you so much." ![]() We finished our drinks and decided to walk down to Maroma beach. ![]() We saw an iguana trying to blend in with the rocks. ![]() It's so gorgeous here. Unfortunately, there were lots of tiny jellyfish, so we didn't risk going in the water. We passed some construction, which we later learned is called Capella and is going to be a high end residence and hotel with a gold course. ![]() We headed back and were ready for lunch by the time we got back. Carlos has brought us replacement drinks while we were gone, which sadly were warm. We appreciated the gesture though. At lunch we had the grilled lobster. It was not very good. It was salty and tough. I was so disappointed because last year I had been disappointed it was not available, now I realize I wasn't missing much. I got over my disappointment with a Havana and coke ![]() There was more laying on the beach, reading relaxing and regular visits from Carlos. There is more to this day's report, but I have to go eat dinner and don't want to risk losing what I've written. |

The rest of Day 4 - We went to the spa pool. Zung got some healthy drink at the bar there. We bubbled and stood under those wonderful jets and flows of water until we were jello.
We went back to our room and drank the champagne while we got ready for dinner. ![]() ![]() Dinner was at the Italian, Venecia, again. And sadly, Karim was at the Surf and Turf again. Jorge did an excellent job though, but he's so serious! For a starter I had the Truffled Fettuccini with maascarpone cheese with caramel I'm not quite sure what else we had, other than the shrimp and lobster risotto again. It is just so good. Yummy. I did have the Zabione for dessert. I wore my LBD tonight (little black dress). ![]() We returned to our room and made French 75's with the rest of the champagne. "Sort of" French 75's - we just mixed champagne with gin, whereas a French 75 has some lemon juice and sugar in it. We didn't mind though. ![]() |

It was outside of Venecia. The fountain thing is in the middle. I actaully can't remember it very well now. But remember, I was under the influence of several glasses of champagne and wine by this point. Not to mention all the drinks the lovely Carlos had brought me. And the rum and coke at lunch...hic!
