My mom's in California and just home from a big trip to Washington DC, so the best I could do was mail some cards, a family portrait, and some more pics of the grandkids.
My MIL is here and FIL is just released from the hospital, so instead of hosting them at our house I'll schlep all the food I bought to her house and cook it. I do what I can. It's weird because my dad died in 1986, and that was the year I got engaged to my husband, when I did the math, I've known my in-laws longer than I knew my own father. Different relationship, obviously, but something to ponder. I miss my mom. Wish she would move here. |

I wish I had a mom to be with, or to send a card to..I had two and now I have none...
... but I am a mom so that's pretty great too! Tomorrow I will be going to a special tag team instructor class at the gym and then finishing up getting 6 tons of stone off my driveway so I can get my backyard ready for the pool opening next week. Sounds like fun, eh? ![]() Enjoy everyone! |

Sorry Sham. I'm in your boat on Fathers Day. I have a
step dad, but it's not the same, we're not too close, and I have a FIL, again, not close. So I'm there, fatherless. Big hugs to you that you have a great day and are celebrated as a great mom!!! |

And sadly, I am in the same boat for Father's Day too! Maybe I'll make hubby clean the pool top to bottom - after all, it's HIS day! ![]() |

I made my Mom a ring and she in now in New Mexico and won't be here! We are taking John's Mom out to dinner and got her a hydrangea for her yard!
I don't know what the kids and John are planning! Probably a trip to the nursery for plants! ![]() |

![]() Makes me feel VERY lonely at times. I don't know what I would do if I lost Mike. I still really miss my mom around holidays (so does Mike) as we used to really enjoy getting gifts for her and also enjoyed the thoughtful gifts she would send to us.Happily, I have been "adopted" by Mike's Mom and all of his 5 brothers and sisters, who, with their spouses, children and grandchildren, ALL live in the immediate Tampa area. 12 of us got together yesterday at the home one of Mike's sisters for a cookout/potluck dinner to celebrate Mother's Day. All of Mike's brothers and sisters have a VERY strong bond as their dad deserted the family (ran off to California with his secretary) while his children were quite young (the youngest was a baby) and the family endured some terribly hard times together. This was pre-computer days, when it was next to impossible to track down deadbeat dads. Mike's mom took a job working in a casket family to support herself and her family and now has chronic obstructively respiratory disease (COPD) as a result. She's on constant oxygen and not in the best of health, so we try to get together with her as a family as much as we possibly can as we don't know just how much longer she'll be with us.Last edited by JoanieBlon : 4 Days Ago at 07:10 AM. |

Bonny is taking her mother, sister and nieces out for breakfast this morning.
Bonny, my son Michael, and I are going over to visit my mother this afternoon for about an hour or two. Michael has not seen her for about 6 months. My mom has been battling cancer for almost 2 years, receives chemo treatments about once a month. If mom is up to it we will go out to do dinner with her and my dad. |

In a couple of hours, we'll go and pick up my mom and we'll be heading to Charlie's brother's house for a barbecue for all the moms in the family--mine, my mother in law, my sisters-in-law, and my sister-in-law's mom...a nice day because I get to spend it with my mom and my mother-in-law, rather than splitting up in different directions or running all over creation. The bittersweet part is that my daughter Kelsey won't be home from college until next weekend. She will be missed today.
