Amy called Kathy today.

Amy is Patrick's girlfriend

Patrick is the son of an old college friend.

He is now a sous chef at a fine dining restaurant here. I first met him when I rubbed my hand on his pregnant mother's big belly, back when he was still a fetal stage kid

Amy called. They are on vacation in Florida. I answered the phone and we chatted for a bit. She asked to speak to Kathy, so I handed the phone over.

When Kathy hung up she had a bit of a tear in her eyes.

Seems Amy said something about Kathy being her West Coast mom.

Sometimes I love young people.

Hope all your Mothers Day were as good as mine!

My day started with coffee and toast for breakfast, went to the plant store (kids call it that!) got all kinds of beautiful flowers, came home did yard work and met John's parents for dinner! We dropped Josh off at work and at there! In the end they gave him 1/2 off our bill and he paid for it! And sent John a shot of tequila! He's such a sweet kid! I love my babies (who aren't such babies anymore!)

My Dad just told me he Loves me! My day is complete!

I am such a lucky Mom!

We went to visit Mom who is in a sub-acute rehab facility since the stroke in March, brought her an adorable, bright colored capri set which the aides promptly dressed her in. My brother picked up Chinese takeout, I picked up Italian pastries; she ate not a bite.

It is very difficult to engage her in conversation, she confuses very easily. I can see deep in her eyes that she is trying very hard to comprehend and retain the conversation, but then she glazes over and I can see the sadness there.

We all want to have hope that she will improve but with each visit I have no choice but to accept that she's not the vibrant, active Mom she was.

I want my old Mom back.

My Mom is having a really hard time since my Dad died, so we had our mothers day party today. Sunday morning my brother is taking her out to brunch and Sunday evening another brother is bringing her dinner so this way she can spread out the "fun" all weekend and wont be alone.

I got my Mom two water lillys for the koi pond. This was my Dads pond so we all enjoy keeping it up and looking nice for her.

I talked to my mom on the phone and we are headed down there (3 hours away) for the long weekend next weekend; I sent her a card and will take her a hanging basket next weekend- PLUS I will be breaking the news to her that I am taking her to Europe this fall, so that will be cool to see her face.


Don's mom was here for supper, she just left a half hour ago- I made ham and scalloped potatoes, and brownies for dessert. We gave her flowers and a card and then we watched the Survivor finale (she is a huge Survivor fan).

I am away from home quite often,and I feel bad about leaving Softy to do all the house work while I'm away. So I went out and bought her the smallest trash bags that I can find. That way she won't have to lift as much trash into the trash container.
