Mexicana Air

We are planning our trip to the royal playa del carmen in October. the other night I was checking prices and ran across mexicana air. I don't understand why there is a HUGE price difference. thru travelocity same dates, flight and room are running about 1900.00, while thru mexicana air it's 1300.00 (pp of course). I am ready to book thru them, but want to know if this is a bad airline or a scam or something. I don't want to book then get to the hotel to find we have no room. any help on this airline would be appreciated. thanks

I have flown them years ago and they were awesome. I am flying them again next week, they are the cheapest flight out of western canada right now.....I don't know where you're flying from but I am hoping that is for an AI as well for that price.

Its a great airline!
They have a partnership with AA, and a good chance some of the flight will be with them

We booked them in July of 06, Cancun to Vegas
We flew AA Cancun/Dallas/Vegas on AA

the return flight was on Mexicana Vegas/Mexico city/Cancun, and really preferred the Mexicana over AA

It is surprising that they are the cheapest option. Ever since they got into bed with American they seem to have gone way up. I know that in our area they are by far one of the most expensive carriers.

We had a return flight with Mexicana via AA. The flight included food and drinks at no charge.

I just returned from a PdC trip with 2 legs of the trip with Mexicana. Didn't have a problem, THIS TIME. About 4 years ago, Mexicana jacked me around with flight changes, leaving me with 10 to 12 hour layovers in Mexico City. At the time, I swore I'd never fly Mexicana again, but I did recently because of flight prices. The most recent trip had a stopover in Miami on the way down, and a stopover in LA on the way back. In the future, it's Frontier non-stop for me, no matter what the cost.

Years ago we would fly Mexicana out of Dallas. We loved it. They always had the best food.

My daughter and family flew Mexicana in February from Chicago to Cancun and their flights were on time and all was good - including the free food and drinks. I'd say you can't go wrong with them.

Go for it. We had a good experience with them as well in Dec/Jan.

We used them too back in March. The free drinks includes alcohol too! Plus if you aren't connected on a AA flight you can have about 130 lbs of luggage in 2 bags. You can't be connecting on a AA flight though since they still have the 50 lbs rules.
