Yes, and the reasons for not enjoying their stay seem very lame like poor workmanship, tiles not lined up properly, buildings are too white, rocks in the ocean, repetitious food at the buffets, not a 5 star, etc.

The most recent one I just read said that Princess already had an established sister resort in the area already, so staffing problems shouldnt be an issue. This is the FIRST Princess resort in the Myan Riviera, this person obviously didnt know what they were talking about. They were also comparing it to other 5 star resorts, which this is definetly not. From what I have read their are no true 5 star resorts in the Mayan Riviera. Considering I have never even been to a 3 star resort, I think I will be pleased.

Linnysue..sounds like you have decided to enjoy your trip. Great attitude. Look forward to your trip report. I will have to live vicariously through others reports until we make a decision on our trip over Xmas...long, long time to wait!
Have a great time.

Hi brandn. The post I mentioned is on T/A and is titled "Hola from DEE 70". Here's the link.
Playa del Carmen forum: Hola from DEE 70 - TripAdvisor

She just got there and I'm sure she'll be providing updates all week.

Oh, ok. I recall seeing that thread, but it didint catch my eye like the other 3000 posts pertaining to the GRP/GSP, since it didnt have the resort name in the title. Thanks to the both of you.

Yes, I gave myself an attitude adjustment! No sense fretting over the negatives that may not even be negatives at all to us once we arrive. We will be out of the snow (yes, it is still snowing here), enjoying the tropical weather and the beautiful Carribean. Better to focus on the positives for sure. We will have a good time even if the buildings are too white!

I am arriving July 1st with a group of 14, most of which have never vacationed at an AI or in Mexico. We got a great price and it will be wonderful to be with family and friends, not at work, not cooking, not cleaning ... well, you get the idea
Don't worry too much and just look forward to your trip!
I feel exactly the same. I feel I got a good deal because I booked before the resort was/is fully established and as another poster noted; I will be there and not here, etc., etc. So what if they run out of beer? So I'll drink mixed drinks then. If I need more towels and they don't bring them for some reason, I'll use yesterday's towels-I do at home; what's the big deal? I'm on vacation to have a good time, party, enjoy the sun, sand, company. I live the the NY metropolitan area and you can't beat the food here, so my expectations of food are very low at best. I'm sure I'll find something to eat. I won't starve.
I think some people need to stop making a wreck of themselves over the small stuff. NOW--if your plane arrives 3 days late, then I understand your frustration. If they run out of food, you have a legitimate gripe.
It's not worth getting all worked up if you're on vacation. Isn't a vacation supposed to bring your stress level down?
Calm down! Have a good time. If the lack of draft or a clean towel means you can't have a good time, then I think you have bigger problems than this resort is going to be able to relieve.

WOW! I took a break from the boards for about a week and I missed a whole lot!
Going somewhere new is like the first time I was pregnant - I read so much, I ended up scaring myself to death and thinking I was in labor every time I felt something. Overkill... most definately!
I'm really looking forward to this trip - as so perfectly said before, as long as I'm not here. Taking all the neg's with the proverbial grain of salt.

Hi! I'm new to posting on these boards but I've been checking up on them for the past couple of weeks and I feel like I've so much more out about the resort from everyone's helpful posts and comments. I'm hoping for the sake of our group thats coming down in June (around 100 of us!) that there isn't a shortage of draft beer, but if there is a problem, we're all laid back so we'll find a way around it. I'm not a beer drinker anyways, but I did have a question about the liquor situation. I understand that in the rooms there is no minibar, but does anyone know if maybe if I left a note (with a tip of course!) if they would maybe leave us a bottle or something in the room? I'm 22 and have no intentions of going to bed too early, and I understand that the sports bar doesn't serve beer. If not, no biggie. I'll find a way around it!!

I was at the GSP 5/10 - 5/17. Wife and I were relaxing when we got home discussing the goods and bads...One of my bads was that the beer was warm. They were only serving Corona in a can.......up until the day before we left. Some Kegs appeared late Thursday afternoon and Friday I had a few ice cold draft beers at one of the pool bars.
However Friday evening the Sunset Lobby bar was still using cans. Probably using up what they had I guess. But they did have kegs in the back room.
We had a great trip though. And trust me I LOVE MY BEER! If you're only going for the beer then.....a week at Betty Ford might be a better idea. The group at the Sunset Lobby took great care of us. They'd step into the back room and grab what I thought was a colder can of beer for me. Throw them a couple extra bucks and make some conversation.....they'll take care of you.
