Carpet Cleaning Answers!
Help...our German Shepherd just decided to open a 2 litre bottle of pepsi int he living room!
She spilled almost the entire bottle on the Cream carpet and Oriental area rug we have over it! I used hot water and a carpet detergent in our steam cleaner after I soaked up most of it with paper towels. I'm afraid the brown stain is going to show back through....any ideas? |

found this link about different carpet stains:
http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple...41600,00.html? if it's a lot of liquid and might have gone down to the carpet pad, it might be worth it to pull the carpet back and dry the pad, otherwise it can keep wicking up through the carpet fibers... we had to do that once when we spilled a mug of coffee... |

Here, try this link for remedies for many types of stains.
HYDRO CLEAN spot and stain removal guide Cola Drink / Soft Drink A soft drink spill is usually deep into the backing and wicking with attendant resoiling can be a major problem. Blot dry with a dry WHITE absorbent towel. Blot with a solution of 1/4 of a cup of liquid HAND dish washing detergent per cup of lukewarm water. Blot with lukewarm water with a white towel. Blot with a solution of 1 cup of WHITE vinegar per 2 cups of water. Blot with lukewarm water with a white towel. Blot dry with a dry WHITE absorbent towel. The Pad we chose has a layer moisture layer on both sides to prevent any spills from soaking in. I managed to blot the majority up using paper towels and then used the carpet machine to suck up anything else...more blotting then cleaned with warm water and detergent. Then went back with a bucket of warm water and a white towel and blotted up again.
We'll see what it looks like tomorrow! Now, about that dog! As soon as she comes down off the soda rush, we're going to have a discussion! ![]() |

that's about all you can do then... keep blotting it as it wicks up...and keep applying the cleaning solution so that it doesn't dry completely before you've blotted it all up... might take a few days if it's that much soda...
good luck with the dog convo ![]() |

Well, I think I got it. The carpet looks pretty good today....so far.
We had a long conversation last night...the dog and I. i think she came away knowing what she did wrong and promised me she would never let it happen again. Just to be sure, I sent her to bed in her stark surroundings and made her think about it. ![]() |

Try 'Spot Shot'-the stuff is amazing. I think Target carries it.
Glad to see that the pup is not suffering any after effects, and that your carpet is back to normal. It really helps to have a treatment put on the carpet before it is installed in your house ![]() |
