Okay, here is another song where I liked the remake better than the original. Nothing against the original or against Roberta Flack - the original is just absolutely awesome, but... The Fugees just NAILED this tune when they did it, in my opinion.

Original:

Okay, two more remakes that are pretty damned good! Unfortunately, for both of these, the originals are SOOOOO sold that they were originally done WAY before video was invented, so I'll have to leave it to your imagination to picture the original:

The original on this was was written in the early 1800s. Stevie Ray Vaughan really kicked its ass though!!! (This is a 1983 performance.)

Another one written in the early 1800s (by a fellow lawyer, no less!) I've never seen it performed with more passion:

No coincidence here that both of these videos feature artists that left us WAY before their time. I'm just torn apart thinking about what they guys would have contributed to art and culture had they stuck around a while longer...

Now here's a song how I learned about it:

It was only a while later that I found out that this next song is the actual hit song:

I took a while for me to get used to the Smokey Robinson version but now I love it and I still love the one by The (English) Beat.

Same happened to me earlier today.
They do now.
Maybe it's just been some temporary technical issue of the Youtube site.

Still not working for me, and what's really weird is that after I try to watch one of the videos, I can't play music from myspace, either. But the speakers emit sound for instant messages or other functions. WTH?

After a while, my speakers will work for music on myspace again, but if I try to play the videos, no dice.

I don't know what it is Heather, but I somehow doubt that it's your 'puter.

Now here's two no-one can have me decide on which version is best.

By the way Stewart, I LOVE that Lou Reed song- wasn't that the scene in Trainspotting when he was diving in the toilet?

Speaking of Smokey...here I am at my mom's, and my aunt's husband, who is from Manchester originally, came up with this remake of Second That Emotion. By the band Japan, who are VERY eighties, and were bigger in England than here....so he says.
