Funny, as I read your post and as I respond, we are watching Trainspotting right this very minute. Watching the Perfect Day video earlier we discussed the movie and it turns out Kelli had NEVER seen it!!!

Anyway... The toilet diving music is actually a song called "A Final Hit" by Leftfield. "Perfect Day" plays when Renton has a serious OD and the visual is of him sinking into the carpet as he's transported to the hospital in the taxi and dumped out front.

I love this movie and I love the soundtracks, both of them...

As we started the movie, I told Kelli I would like both of our kids to watch this movie when they are teenagers. She said "why, because it shows heroin as so cool?" I said, "keep watching..." We got to the scene where they found the dead blue baby in the crib because they were all too high to notice anything and she agreed, yeah, good movie for the kids to watch...

thanks Stew, yeah I wan't sure- between that dead baby crawling on the ceiling scene and that toilet scene- that movie is totally unforgettable to me!

Thanks too, Lil G for that song- I don't think I have ever heard of theat!

Now, y'all have heard this one, I am sure, Them and Here Comes the Night...

When I was in my teens there was a local band called Streetheart who were pretty popular, here is thier version- they also did a mean version of the Rolling Stones Under my Thumb.

I think the key is for me, if they take the song and make it their own, instead of trying to just sound exactly like the original....the Streetheart song was the latter, and it fell flat for me, therefore....but something like Johhny Cash and Hurt- awesome.

how bout this, Sunday Morning Comin' Down.....now this has been redone and redone and redone....great song.

sorry, the original was Johnny there, I like his better than Kris's- but I can't find my favourite remake- which was Shawn Mullins, it was really good.

Neil Young's Heart of Gold...(first and best, IMO )

and how about Roxette's verbatim version...

and good lord....Johnny Cash again- who knew he was such a cover slut???

Cool boys of summer!

Original...

And then the more rocky one...

And finally the club mix...

The words are exactly the same in all 3 versions except for the name of the bumper sticker. I personally like The Ataris best.

I love that Don Henley song too...but you are right, the Ataris versions rocks. The original was a bit too slow.

get this...the original of If You Could Read my Mind by Gordon Lightfoot...

and the remake by Stars on 54 (from the movie Studio 54, like it, like it!!)

and you won't believe who else...okay, maybe you can guess ...

Well you certainly can't argue that these guys (the Leningrad Cowboys, here with the Red Russian Army Choir) didn't do an, er, INTERESTING interpretation of Sweet Home Alabama.

but of course, ain't no one does it like Lynyrd Skynyrd...

Okay guys, if Johnny Cash is the "King of Covers" lets not forget about the "Crown Prince."

I can't BELIEVE I forgot about this guy!!! If any of you have seen the television show "The Osbournes" you are already familiar with his work. If not, please allow me to introduce you to the unique musical stylings of Mr. Richard Cheese!

Okay, everyone knows this original - Baby Got Back by Sir Mix A Lot. Classic booty tune!

Lounge style remake by Richard Cheese! (Stay tuned at the end of the video for a "bonus" rendition of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus.")

Here is another original... "Holiday in Cambodia" by the Dead Kennedys. This is one of my favorite cuts from one of my favorite bands of all time. 25 years later and I still listen to them regularly.

Richard Cheese version (using the video of "The Grinch" as background.)
