For you foodies out there

If you are ever in New Orleans...

Julie and I are in the Big Easy on a two day restaurant tour and we kicked things off last night at Restaurant August, iron chef John Besch's place on Tchoupitoulis, just off Canal. We treated ourselves to the degustation menu, wherein, Chef Besch personally prepares a nine course meal and pairs each with a fine wine. We were seated at 6:30 and left dazed with pleasure a little before 10.

I had phoned ahead and asked if the Chef would prepare a vegan menu for Julie and a meaty one for me...no problem. All I can say is, wow. Absolutely the finest dining experience we have ever had. Truly phenomenal.

Into our third course, Chef Besch came out to see what we thought, and said, "This is easy stuff...we can do anything." Hmm, a challenge methinks.

Next up...drag myself out of bed, beingnets and coffee at you-know-where, shopping for some cuff-links (I forgot mine and need them tonight) goofing around the Quarter, trolley up and down St. Charles and visit a few of our old haunts, and then dinner tonight at Bayona.

God, I love this woman...she is the best travel partner a guy could have.

Ohhh, what a great time you must be having, I'm so happy for you. And you made me get all teary-eyed, too. You two are so lucky to have found each other; truly meant to be.

HiYa J & J,
Thanks for the info about the restaurant...there are not a lot of veggie options in NO....at least not in 2006 when I was there at a conference.
Next time MikeW is with me, we'll go there
Enjoying your report...

Awesome thread... Thanks for sharing!!!

I'm going to unwrap myself a muffaletta, pop open a cold Jax beer and settle in for the ride!

If you think about it, try and post some food pics if you can!

I'm hardly jealous at all....mostly. Really looking forward to pulling a cork or 7 with you guys in September.
