Transportation from Airport to Playa?
We are coming to playa for our first family vacations that doesn't involve Orlando and we are REALLY excited!
We will be there Jun 24-Jul 1st and were wondering what was the best way to get from the airport to our resort the Viva Wyndham. There will be 2 adults, 1 senior, and 3 kids. I've read many different conflicting ideas and figured this was the place to get the best answers. Also, any suggestions on a tour for all of us would be great. This is our first time so I don't think we'll be leaving the resort too much but wanted to at least do one great tour/adventure from playa. We were thinking about the Tulum tour with zip lining but we're open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I think the best option for your group is the airport transfer offered through this site... click HERE for that.
As for a tour (and I swear I'm not getting paid for this - it's all true! ), the Yucatreks tour offered HERE is also your best option. It's exciting enough for the kids with the cenotes and Tulum beach, but can be calm enough for the senior in your group as well. (If by "senior" you meant age and not grade!)

Hola and welcome to the board
With a group of 5 I would definetely look at private transportation. The ADO bus would cost your group $40 each way. I am not sure but most taxis won't be able to haul you in one so you would pay for 2 fares. That would be more than private transportation.
Enjoy! |

Well I just found out our senior (60 years old) and 1 teenager won't be arriving until 3 hours after us so that throws a wrench in things. I don't want to sit around the airport for 3 hours but I'm want to make sure the other 2 have a easy time with their transportation because they are not avid travelers. So there will be 4 of us at 11am and 2 more at 2 pm. Are the buses, taxies, or vans going to be our best options. I really appreciate all the help.

If you don't plan on waiting for your entire party to arrive
When you arrive, find the ADO bus window. When we were there in October, it was the last window before you left the airport. Buy bus tickets for approximately $8 apiece. The bus is comfortable, air conditioned, clean, and they play a movie. There is very little stopping between the airport and Playa.
On the other hand, if you plan to have a large enough party to fill a van, go with Susie's idea and book the van through this website. |

bus vs taxi, last minute reservations?
Hola everyone,
New member here, thanks for all the great info so far! We're flying to Cancun tomorrow AM and would love a private van for our party of 6, but I wanted too long to make a reservation. I have filled out the online form for playa.info's transport service, but they also say that I shoul dhave done it 36 hours ago. ![]() Anyway, in the likely event we are too late to make a reservation, we think we'll grab 2 taxis for maximum convenience of our mixed-age group. any particular hints for grabbing las taxistas? We're staying at Villa Sol Y Luna, which is a house we are renting in Playacar 2. Really looking forward to our trip, and perhaps we'll even meet up with you peeps on Sunday. Cheers, robnit |

Try cancun airport private transfers car service to playa del carmen and tulum mexico, akumal, puerto aventuras, I took them last time to go to Playa and then from Tulum to the airport, recommendable, both transfers without any troubles.
