Yes, the beautiful beach is what draws us to Tulum, along with the desire to see the ruins there. This will be out 4th trip to Mexico and we've never been to any of the ruins. We tend to shy away because of the fact that we always happen to be there during the dog days of summer when the heat can be overwhelming. We'll see what happens this time. I know that our resort has one of the most beautiful beaches in the area, so we may not feel like missing any prime beach time by travelling.

Oh boy! Maybe we'll see you at Tulum, Eileen. Where are you staying, that has a good beach? I'm a little worried about ours, based on previous reports.

Hi caramba, thanks for the nice note. I feel much better ... heck with what anyone else thinks! And I do plan on getting into town -- hopefully our second full day, we'll take the stroll down. Can't wait!

It's so nice to be able to get advice from our Mass. neighbors on here!

We're staying at the Barcelo Maya...From all I have heard, it has the most gorgeous beach. I have seen the pictures and I believe it. But I have also seen many pics from Tulum, and it looks to be such a natural and unspoiled location...exactly what I look for in a beach. Did you say where you are staying?

No, I am a total idiot and the flight we are taking is the opposite of the sweet nonstop one ... don't even ask. I got excited and did not research flights enough. We have to make some insane arrangements to get to the airport early enough, too. Oh well! It will be worth it.

We're at one of the Rius -- the Riviera Maya. It sounds pretty nice, if a little over the top for us.

We New Englanders have to stick together you know! What state are you from anyway? Many of the people who have posted on this thread are neighbors...every so often we plan a Boston area peep meet and those are always fun. We've met in several Boston restaurants/bars, and we had a wonderful day of apple picking (and drinking! ) that caramba and her husband planned. Hope you might decide to take part in our next one!

I'm also from Massachusetts -- guess birds of a feather flock together. I'd love to hear about a get-together -- although I have small children and can rarely get away -- hence my over-excitement about this trip.

I just changed my flight to avoid the ridiculous schedule I had set up for us -- waste of money for the fee to change, but I feel much better overall about the day of travel. My husband is getting sick of me talking about it, I suspect. TOO BAD!

Yeah, I just realized that's the way to go next time! I think at least one of the grandparents would be up for it.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
