If I may just chime in... my vote is to take the kids with you. This is little B-Man's third trip to PDC, and he's just 4. We are so excited to be coming back again. And I also am having trouble concentrating on work. Pack those bags and let's go!

I can definitely see why you'd be looking forward to a getaway from the kids, but there's also a lot to be said for packing them along too. For one thing, it gives you amazing shared family vacation memories. And you don't have to worry about lining up a babysitter for the whole vacation. I just like having my kids along on the vacation. BUT...next year, my husband and I celebrate our 25th anniversary, and we already know we're taking a grown ups-only vacation for the first time in many years to mark the occasion. Woohoo!

Naw, you shouldn't be! Your time will come too. Our kids are almost 19 and almost 12, and the last time we took a grownup vacation without them was in 2001. We went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I hated being away from them, but sometimes you just gotta do it.

We are in dire need of a couple of grownup vacation days, and on a major budget, but I think after this year we will take everyone's advice. And take the grandma. It will definitely be easier when they are a little older!

How old are your kids? I can really relate to your situation. When my daughter was young, we were SO broke, because I wasn't working. We were lucky to have my mom living next door, and every so often she'd just take our daughter out for a while so we could have some alone time. And yes, it does get easier. (Of course, as they get older, you have OTHER things to worry about. That part never changes. )
