Iberostar Quetzal Trip Report May 2008
Hi Everyone;
well my mom and I just got back from Playa del Carmen last Saturday and we had a great time. The day before leaving for the trip, I was flown to Ottawa for a job interview so there was a lot of excitement in a couple of days! We were checked in by a woman from Holland training for her Tourism degree, which was cool because although we have been in Canada for many years, we are originally from Holland (mom still has an accent). They had us down for one king size bed ... thought my travel agent should have requested two double beds. Anyways, they switched us to 2 doubles right away and after 3 nites, moved us to the exact room we wanted in Building #24, room 2441. Great jungle view. I'll keep trying to add photos before I make my next entry. I uploaded them from my digital camera to PHOTOfunSTUDIO, but when I try to add them as attachments, it keeps telling me 'upload of file failed'. I'll do some more reading on here to see what's up. |

I can't wait to see photos of the improvements they have been making to the beach. They must have that wall in front of building #20 built by now.
Glad you got the room you wanted. I know you mentioned building #23, but #24 was nice as well. I prefer the placement of the buildings on the Quetzal over the Tucan side. We'll be off for the Akumal area in a week. I can't wait. Just got our new updated E docs today from Funjet for the Grand Palladium. Looking forward to your photos. |

2nd DAY
We met Andy from Austrailia, one of the resort's Star Friends, who had breakfast with us. He was a real charmer.

2nd NIGHT
After a late supper we would always walk around the entire resort and then watch a bit of the resort entertainment. My camera didn't take the best shots of the night entertainment so I'll post one or two later, for the Miss Iberostar 2008 contest.
Here's part of the way we walked every night after supper: Past the lobby ![]() Down the walkways surrounding the resort ![]() ![]() |

3rd DAY
One of the reasons I chose to come back to this resort a 2nd time, is because I love nature and the setting is semi-jungle with a lot of animals. It's a veritable feast of sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.
Here are the waterfalls right beside the buffet restaurant which we enjoyed at breakfast and supper. (lunch was in two big palapas by the beach) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Monday continued
We checked out the pool and ended up in the swim up bar because I'd met a couple of Dutch women and I wanted mom to meet them. They had a great sense of humor.
