RIU Playacar Dress requirements

We will be staying at the RIU Playacar the last week in June and was wonder if it's really necassery for us to bring dress clothes, particulary the guys. Once you bring dress pants, you have to bring a bunch of other things as well (dress shoes, belt, dress socks, etc). I really want to try to pack light.

I know it says the dinner rooms requires long pants and closed shoes, but it's June...in MX, and I really dont want to dress up. I've heard most don't dress up, but what do the majority do?

For the buffet it's pretty casual (collared shirts, nice shorts) but the dinner restaurants wants pants, etc...
I'm staying at the Tequila week after next. I'm taking a pair of khakis just because, but the last time I was there I wore jeans to the steak house & had no problems.
