That last part may not be right though.
I thought Culebra was a very green island. But we are going there mostly for the beaches.

We stopped in Cozumel and took the ferry over and Susie, oh wonderful, lovely, beautiful, sexy Susie met us and we went to breakfast at Cueva del Chango followed by an afternoon in Pamuul. Our relatives/friends were impressed

We went ashore on Grand Cayman for awhile, except for my hungover brother. After buying rumcakes, bottles of booze and seeing some things we went back to the ship way early. What a neat time. We got to enjoy the pool area and rest of the ship with hardly any passengers there!!

Have a good time!!
That sounds like an excelent day!

Thor, you will have a wonderful time! So many great islands to see. The only downside is that the islands are so beautiful, it's hard to leave. We were on Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas last year and also went out of San Juan. Our itinerary was a little different: Aruba, St. Maarten, Curaco and St. Thomas. They were all great stops - we especially loved St. Maarten.

I can't wait to see your pictures when you return and hear your impressions. Oh, one must see on the boat: the ice show - we liked it so much, we wished we could have saw it twice! My daughter (who plays ice hockey) skated almost every day.

Have a wonderful time!

We took an Eastern Caribbean cruise with Celebrity Lines in 2004.
Especially liked Old San Juan, the fort and the narrow streets. The cobble stones look like they may have been fired in a glaze oven, dark midnight blue with polished glaze. Took three snorkel tours while onboard. One in St. Thomas to snorkel with turtles ( this was a sail and snorkel trip on the Dancing Dolphin ) - great trip especially on the return as the sails were up, Jimmy Buffet cd's were playing and the skipper annouced that we should drink the rum as it was cheaper that the water. Another one in St. Maarten off Pinel Island on the French side of the Island just east of Orient beach (the nudist beach). Other trip was off Tortula and wasn't that great. Have a great time and take lots of pictures.
We prefer cruising to sitting in one spot for a week or two!

Your trip sounds fabulous, Thor!! I've been on five cruises, and they're not so bad. (Just don't talk to JTM before you go!)

My travel blog on these islands is here:

Profile for Smachim - United States

I've done 2 similar cruises and been to PR a couple of times. Culebra is one of my favorite islands in the Caribbean.

And for more info/tips on the cruise I do recommend cruisecritic.com

Have fun. I'll be reading your trip report.

Hey.... I've met you and Kari. You ARE hunky, and she IS intelligent.
(Oh... and she IS beautiful too, BTW!!!)

The only thing missing from that evening was that it was my first evening in Playa and your and Kari's last. Next time we HAVE to have better timing!! (And I need to have David with me!) But still.... I feel fortunate that I had but the limited time we had together at the Beer Bucket that night. I can tell that you two will ALWAYS make the best of wherever you are together!

Golly... I cannot WAIT to see your pictures from this cruise!!! My honeymoon cruise was out of San Juan (1993). And while the marriage wasn't a good one, the location of the honeymoon certainly was!!

Thor,
Make sure you catch the "Quest" on the ship too! Sort of like a scavanger hunt, but absolutely hilarious...participate as a team if you can.
Depending on what you like to do on the islands, I recommend Megan's Bay for a beach day on St Thomas. Beautiful cove and gentle lapping waves. On St Maarten, there are a host of good beaches...so if you want activity, go to Orient beach (BTW, there is also a clothing optional section depending on how adventurous you want to be...or forewarned as the case may be)...My wife and I liked Dawn Beach...a nice little out of the way place...two lounge chairs and an umbrella for $10 US and a great little restraunt that served 75 cent Caribes. The surf was a little rougher there so snorkeling was not so good.

Either way, go open minded about the cruise...we love them, but understand where others feel trapped on board. We always manage to find out of the way places on board to play cards or just sit and read. On our last crusie, we even went in one of the closed night clubs to practice our ballroom dancing.

Oh and on Cruise critic, go to the "roll call" section and see who is going on the cruise with you...we've met some really great people that way!
