As you’ll likely know, unless you’ve been living under a rock, there’s a fund raising raffle underway right now to fill up the “kitty” for the construction of the new Peanut Pet Shelter project. The undertaking is getting down to the short strokes in the construction phase, and some financial commitments have been made in that regard.

The drawing for the impressive array of prizes will take place at a rang-dang-do function at Bad Boys on July 4th. There’s a great variety of worthwhile things to be won, as can be seen in the thread dealing with the raffle. I sure hope I win the English classes - I could really use the help - or you can’t go wrong with food or booze. However I doubt an hour would be enough time to massage all of a Bumper, though plenty enough for Mrs. B. And I can just see me in a microlite aircraft. Can you say “scrap metal?”

Anyway, it’s time for all of us Peeps to stick our hands in our pockets to “pony” up for some raffle tickets. Regrettably, the majority of us won’t be able to be at Bad Boys on the 4th of July, but there’s certainly no reason we can’t all pitch in to make it Independence Day as far as getting the shelter out of hock for initial construction costs.

I don’t think there’s too many of us that can’t afford to dig a bit deeper to help out with the great work Andy & Jen have taken on, and provide them with the facility to do it even better. I can’t speak for you, but I know I can swing another $10, or $20, or $50. Heck, I’ll spill more than that my first night in town at the Beer Bucket, or La Rana, or the Tequila Barrel. Mrs. B and I are already sponsoring a kennel, but I’m pretty sure we can come up with a few bucks to buy some chances in this terrific raffle.

And this isn’t just for the doggy crowd either. Hey, we’re cat people, as most of you will know. We love dogs, mind you, but cats fit our lives better, so we’re members of the feline fraternity. The two that adopted us have been really good about letting us live in their house for many years. So c’mon you pussycat patrons, you fish fans, you bird boosters, you mongrel maniacs, you turtle admirers, you budgie backers, you ferret fanciers, you canary connoisseurs, all you critter fans, let’s show these dog types we can handle our end of the log.

Now, just as an aside, I’m reasonably sure there are some pussycat guests in the Peanut shelter. Howzabout we see some pictures of these fur people. Puppy wash day shots are fine, but how about a little equal time for us feline fanciers? I doubt there will be any cat washing pics, though I’d pay money to see that bloodbath. Until something better comes around, I’ll just have to harvest some from elsewhere.

So, there it is. Great raffle prizes to be won, but you gotta’ meet ‘em half way.....BUY SOME DAMNED TICKETS!

Hey Bumper,

Has anyone told you how wonderful you are lately?......You are WONDERFUL Bob!!! Thanks for (pardon the pun) bumping up this very worthy cause!

Given the amount of generously donated prizes vs. tickets sold....the odds of winning are very, very good! Every ticket puchased is Win-Win for the Shelter pups & kitties!!!

Here are some kitten photos for ya Bob! I fostered these little ones until Laura, our Cat Caretaker had room to take more in. They are the sweetest little, purring, playful affectionate little babies!

Thanks Linda ....I only regret not getting photos of the soccer games the kitties played in my bathroom. It was the cutest ever!!!

FYI Folks.....the plans for the expanded Shelter construction project include a very nice, safe, separate kennel(s) area for the kittens & cats. We call it the Kitty Coral....This will be the "Bumper" Kitty Coral!

OK...

shamefully we'v apparently been under one of those rocks as we don't read 'every' post or thread. BUT do know about the new shelter - just not much about the hows and whens of this raffle.

Packing to come down tomorrow - so no time to sift thru all the posts....exactly
WHO and WHERE do we get tkts from, if we're coming down in next couple of days? I take it raffle is on July 4th at Bad Boys ...?? Gracias

Hi Big Fish,

Raffle tickets can be bought at the event. Bad Boyz (on the beach between 2nd & 4th). The event starts at 1pm. Tickets can also be purchased through Anna at Hotel La Tortuga (14th & 10th streets). Her hours are 8am to 4pm. I also can meet you any where that is convenient for you with tickets (anytime after 3pm on Weds.).
Thanks for your support!! Looking forward to meeting you on the Fourth!! Too bad my husband can't be there...he loves to talk about fishing!

Bumper thank you so very , very much for a fantastic post, i realise i have been a bit delinquent in posting kitty pics because although at the moment we cant have any at the shelter (hmmmm Toys for Troy

) Laura our very own cat lady has been saving and rehoming many feline friends for quite some time from her small apartment (shhhh !! dont tell her landlord

) so i will make sure i get lots of kitty pics for future posts
