Hard for me to pick a single place anymore so I'll pick a few
![]() I'm inclined to say the best deep fried fish and shrimp tacos are at Gamberi. I love that they make everything right there while you wait, even the tortillas. They also have nice tamarindo and chipolte sauces that you can put on them The left two tacos are shrimp, the one on the right is fish. (13 pesos each) ![]() I also really liked the shrimp tacos at La Floresta. The shrimp are bigger than the ones at Gamberi, but they didn't have the nice sauce options. ![]() For non deep fried shrimp tacos, my favorite places are Baremar and Fusion. Here are the ones at Baremar ![]() and the ones at Fusion ![]() now I'm really hungry for shrimp and fish tacos ![]() Tim |

Since Cazador et al and I stalked each other for the better part of a week, I not only echo his report, but likely ate off the same plate most times!
I'll add a couple that he wasn't around for. PG's: deep fried with tamarind and habanero on the side. They rival the old El Oasis shrimp tacos that are no more. Alhambra on the beach: rich, fresh shrimp grilled in rosemary with various sides (guac, salad, pico de gallo). Might be the best grilled shrimp I've ever had in Playa. 100 pesos for about 5 tacos worth. Bodeguita del Medio (aka the Cuban restaurant): they had a couple different kinds. I had the grilled shrimp with cheese and various sauces. They were ok, but cheese is just a little wrong with shrimp tacos. I tend to prefer flour tortillas, but I loved the handmade corn tortillas at Gamberi's. |

Been to Playa many times and this year is our first having "shrimp tacos" and we've had them at a few places
PGs twice - first time they were great, second time shrimp were too small with too much batter Las Brisas - OK La Floresta - these were the absolute best - huge shrimp and not too much batter Aquachilies - Good - great sauces - they even had them on lettuce leaves if you're watching calories Definitely want to go back to La Floresta |

Returned to Kool Fish [5th and 38th] this vacation and ordered shrimp and crab tacos..the shrimp were just edible, the crab was horrible.....one bite and I gagged.
Then they tried to pull a stunt on giving us change when we paid, and I had not complained about the food. I won't return...... |
