Stock Market Officially Turns Enters Bear Market

So, given the consistent downward trend, how many of you have shifted your investments? Are you letting them ride or transferring to lower risk investments...if you haven't, what is the trigger for you?


I hit my pain level yesterday. Shifted my 401k to a Government Security Fund.

I have added to the amount going monthly into my 401k equivalent - all of it going into large cap growth mutual funds. This is the buy low part of the cycle - I hope -

I am still fully invested in another account in one company that I have quite a bit of faith in. Fortunately, some of that was bought a long time ago, and some more recently - but some was bought higher than it is today.

Also, fortunately, we'll have traditional defined benefits pensions from governmental sources once we retire - and won't need any of this money for a few years.

I shifted mine about 10 months ago and will let them sit until after the election.

Yes it is nice getting that Monthly retirement check! Right now it pays the Morgtage (and then some)...but I have that set to be paid off before I retire from my second career.

I never pay any attention to market fluctuations....it drives me too crazy...

My fund managers are supposed to be doing that....

All due respect but is this just a fluctuation?

I admit I don't understand much about the stock market but I'm thinking this is more? Hopefully it'll turn around soon!! I'd like to think about retirement but I don't think I can right now.

To answer to OP, I have a fully diversified plan but I do wish I'd stopped investing in GE stock about 12 months ago. Is it too late now? It's also my employer so as they go....so go I.

Yeah ... once GW is out of office we'll pull out of Iraq, gas will go back down to $1.20 per gallon, and the southern part of the country will stop flooding.

I think you are right Frank. Also once GW is gone the level of service offerred in Playa will resume to your preffererred level, together with a building silence code.....

Although I heard a rumour that GW is going to accept a new role as Peace Ambassador for the UN, so perhaps he will still be around ?
