Do most of the shops in playa accept travelers checks and credit cards? thanks for your help.

No, but they happily accept pesos that you can get easily from any of the many ATMs around town or from the money exchanges.

Travellers checks are often difficult to cash much less to use in stores. Credit cards are usualy not accepted in restaurants, bars and stores. You can usually pay for lodging with a Visa or Matercard, but expect to pay a surcharge of 5% or more.

I really reccomend an ATM card. Safe and easy way to access cash.
