Airport confusion... bear with me, I'm new!
So, I know a lot of questions have been asked about the airport and transportation to Playa, but I am having issues with the search function (no search terms under 3 letters?!) so I figured I'd just ask.
First question... I have read that most flights from the US fly into terminal 3, but I think mine might be flying into terminal 2. The airline is Continental... anyone know how to find out for sure? I am also wondering how to catch the ADO bus from either of these terminals... is it possible to get the bus at terminal 2? I want to be prepared wherever I end up! The last thing I wanted to ask about is just a general question about the ADO and other forms of transportation from the airport. I have anxiety and it can sometimes be triggered by crowded/cramped/noisy situations like public transportation. I have heard that the ADO is very comfortable, a/c, bathroom, etc. which sounds great. I am wondering though if I am guaranteed a seat, or is there a possibility that I might have to stand? Also, are the seats very close together or is there plenty of room? Any detailed info (and pictures if anyone has them!) would be much appreciated. Sorry if I seem obsessive, I just want to make sure I have as much info as possible so I can enjoy my vacation and RELAX! Thanks!! Lesley |

Unless things have changed since Dec, the ADO went to both terminals. I believe we were at 3, then it stopped at 2 to pick up others. I'm sure different times of day are more crowded. We got in early afternoon and the bus to Playa didn't even end up being half full. It was a comfortable ride with a/c. I would definitley take ADO again.

Continental flies into terminal 3
The bus is outside and to the right. Buy tickets at the bus or inside at the ADO desk. Here's a shot inside the bus. Nice and comfortable but the TV can be blaring at times

The ADO can be crowd at times, last time I used it it was very crowded, couldn't sit next to my wife on trip to hotel. Did you book through Apple or Worry Free, they have their on bus to take you to your place.
I would book a private transfer!! I van or car for yourself, no anxiety chances. Dec PDC is crowded!! I will be there also. |

The ADO's are less crowded than most airplane cabins! I believe they only sell tickets for the number of seats they have and I've only seen the ADO full once and that was one day before the hurricane was supposed to hit on the way to the airport. Every other time the bus has been virtually MT especially from the airport TO Playa.
If you're taking ADO both ways, just remember to pick up a return trip ticket a day or 2 before departure. That way you're sure you've got a seat. |

HI there, and welcome to the forum.
The ADO busses are quite big, think Greyhound, and comfortable, I don't believe you will feel crowded and I have never seen anyone standing. As far as I know Continental arrives at Terminal 3 , after you claim your bags and go thru customs simply walk outside to your right past the bar and look for the red-shirted ADO reps who will sell you a ticket on the spot. Lesley, do try to relax before you go, the information you will get here will make your trip much easier than the other folks traveling alongside you.Keep in mind that not everything in Mexico will be on a strict schedule so don't make yourself too crazy and go with the flow, have a cervesa and enjoy Playa! |

If you are truly anxious about this, I recommend booking a private transfer through this site. Yes, more expensive, but it'll put your mind at ease. A driver will be waiting for you once you exit the terminal with your name on a board. You'll be whisked away to your destination in no time at all.

On both of my recent flights to Mexico, the plane was so much more crowded and cramped than any ADO bus I have ever taken. Last week, I took ADO buses from Chetumal-Cancun (6 hours) and then from Cancun to the airport. They have nice, big, reclining seats and they are not overcrowded. People aren't allowed to stand in the aisles or anything like that. They have a/c, TV, and bathrooms. Too bad we don't have bus service like that here in the U.S., I would definitely use it.
