Mojitos?

So I need some insight . A Mojito is basicly an old southern drink ? with made with rum instead of Bourbon?? Old southern drink referring to Mint Julep.

Assuming you mean mojito, yes, it's essentially the same as a mint julep, with the rum substituted for bourbon, and the addition of lime juice, though the mint is beat up more in the mojito than the julep.

A mojito is of Cuban origin.
Is there lime juice in a mint julep? I don't think so.
The mojito has never been associated with the south (okay...South Beach, maybe)

The idea of mint and bourbon makes me throw up a little bit in my mouth

That's on my list of things to try next week in PDC (along with fish/shrimp tacos).

James A. I'm with you my friend, The Mint Julep is a refreshing sunner drink served throughout the southern US. Although it is made a bit different from the cuban counterpart. For eample a syrup of boiled water and sugar is prepared the night before and crushed "beat up" mint leaves are then put in the syrup to let the mint seep onto the syrup. The next day this syrup is combined with about 4 fingers of bourbon in a glass full of cracked ice and served with get this either lemon or lime (your choice) and a couple sprigs of mint. Anyway that's the way my folks in North Carolina make it. Don't knock it untill you have tried it. I'm usually up to try most drinks before passing judgement.Spelling changed in first post for the benefit of those politically correct peeps.Oh and cuba can be considered in the south, only if you don't live further south.

You'll find lots of threads on this but my favorites are at Babe's, La Bodeguito del Medio, and Bourbon Street.

For the record, mojitos win the prize, in my book. I like the ones from Babe's.
