Food, fish & fun at Fishermen's
We are leaving Sat for 9 days. Since it is an RCI exchange, we must do the ai plan. How is the food? We will probably eat dinner's in town - any favorites? We are divers and wonder if there are any suggestions for good dive operations. We are experienced and would like to try cenotes etc. Dove Coz, ( and other spots) so we are familiar with drift diving.
Our daughter is actually flying into Coz and going to Playa to meet up with us - a little backwards, but all we could get. Should she have any problem from the airport in Cozumel to the ferry to Playa - then I am assuming taxi to hotel? Anything for a young single 22 year old to do? We won't be too keen on seeing her go to town alone - does Fishermen's attact any "young" folks she might "hook-up" with? What are the must do's while we are there. Visited Citzen Itzen (sp) last time in Cancun and Isle Murjeres (sp? too) many years go, when there was nothing there! If anyone has been there recently, how is the construction? Also, fmi (for my information :-) )did I see that folks have paid 10,000-20000 for a week here????? Or was that in pesos? Or do they have some other kind of set-up outside of RCI that entitles you to a lot more? Thanks for any information, Debbie

My parents own at Fisherman's and I'm not sure what they paid....my husband and I are finally going to be able to check it out for ourselves in early December. Please be sure to post a trip report when you return!

must do's in playa del carmen
hi, i just returned from PDC on saturday. the must do's include xel-ha and xcaret. you will NOT be disappointed. when you go, be sure to get the 1/2 price tickets from the concierge desk at FV. for $26, you can go to xel-ha and spend all day snorkeling, swimming, exploring the cenotes, floating down a river, relaxing in a hammock and eating pretty good food. also, the souvenirs there were very good. also, try to visit tulum, but if you go, go in the afternoon (it's open 'til 5:00). the tour buses are there in the mornings, and it gets too crowded. also, the souvenirs there were very disappointing. if you have time, take the ferry to cozumel. there's some good shopping and pretty good restaurants. as for restaurants in PDC, we went to la parilla, las manitas and a couple of others (names i can't remember) and they were all pretty good. since PDC has a sizable italian population, there are some pretty good italian restaurants in town. have fun!!

Fishermen's AI
Were you on the all-inclusive plan? How is the food - since we will need to eat two meals a day there, fresh and decent would be nice!
Our 22 year old daughter is flying in from LA to meet up with us. Will she have anything to do except "hang" with her parents. I don't want her going into a strange area alone, but it doesn't sound like the type of hotel to attract many singles. She is just coming for the vacation - and time to relax a little before going out into the real world. (She just graduated in May from college). Unfortunately for her, none of her friends like to travel and her boyfriend never seems to have the $. I told her when she gets a "real" job, she will find people who want, and can afford, to travel. Are you divers? Do you own there or was it an exchange? Thanks for your help. Debbie |
