The board is quite quiet lately! Here's a question for you all:

Can anyone name any authentic mexican/yucatecan restaurants in Playa that don't cater to the tourists? ie. trendy. Many Thanks.

I love the Casa de Piedra on 35th ave around 30th street.

Oceanus on 35th ave and 34th street is great for fresh seafood.

Taco stand across from the park on 2nd street between 15th and 20th. Gomez or something like that. Carnitas!

We went a couple of times to a place called (help me!) Il Pastorcito ("little shepherd") -- on a main street, probably 35th or so... Not very helpful unless you are there, eh? but some of you lucky folks are!!-- Anyway Kevin & Kat and a bunch of the other "dive-slaves" seemed to hang out there... so I guess they considered it good value for money. Sure was authentic! Food and beer were tasty & pretty cheap; TV loud; lots of Mexican families, too... and murals!

El Pastorcito. Ate there two nights ago. It's a taqueria. A taco al pastor is that vertically grilled, rotating marinated pork thing with a pineapple on top. The guy who works it is un pastorero. Great tacos, cheap beer, authentic and a fave of mine. The alambre de arrachera is great also.
30th Ave near corner of Constituyentes. I'm out the door for some carnitas.

Thanks for the corrections, James: I kenew you'd know what I meant!
My Kevin is in Stuttgart now, learning German, not eating tacos, still drinking beer I bet, and heading soon for Scandinavia.
